I totally agree with you AFiL this is a gamble ,and one we cant afford to get wrong. While we are waiting for a striker that may or may not get a passport,and if he does may well decide to stay in Spain. All the clubs around us are picking of all the good strikers that are still available.

Sorry DfB,while i have faith in our scouting network,they still couldn`t stop Vicente from sitting on his behind ,do you really want to risk that again. If we get a striker in,whether its on a contract or loan,then we will be able to move forward for a top six place. If we wait for Ulloa to get a passport,and he chooses Spain over us,it will be too late to get in an alternative,and that will almost certainly prove to be the end of our challenge for this year. Personally i am not happy with someone we know nothing about holding our future!.

Even if we did get him,it would take too long for him to adjust,for him to make a difference. Imho we need to stay close to home and find our target man before January 31st,all too often do we end up looking at the last turkey in the shop window. UTA

Fair and sound points. Guess we'll have to continue to wait (and hope) to see where we are on 31st. Lots of names have been banded about on here over the last few weeks, including some that at this stage in our evolvement have been totally unrealistic, either because of our financial status or because premiership standard players don't want to drop a division, eg Austin and Graham.

I agree with you Tug509 and Albion fan in London. It is exactly what I was saying on a couple of threads yesterday.
Interesting to note that Poyet is looking to strengthen the team in other positions as well (quote 'it is the same with the other positions we are looking at as well...')
Not sure it is good news that we are playing the rescheduled Blackburn away game on the Tuesday before our 4th Round FA Cup match.

Agree. Trouble is , most people here and on NSC , are living in cloud cuckoo land , regarding the striker issue. It would be great if Will Hoskins now does the business.... But he's not the 'big target man' that we are after . They are very expensive .... And until we get promotion and the £90mill that goes with it, we ain't going to get that man !

Borrow a striker, yep this has been my long term prefered option, borrow a couple of other players too. A decent center back and a strong attacking midfield guy, one that can head the ball as well as play quality thru balls.
