Gary Dicker admits he is playing for his Albion future.

The midfielder says he has no idea what will happen when his current deal expires in the summer.

But he is confident he can help the Seagulls push for the play-offs without losing any star players along the way.

Dicker enjoyed his first start for more than two months when he helped knock Newcastle out of the FA Cup on Saturday having made his comeback from injury as a substitute in the win over Ipswich four days earlier.

He will keep contract thoughts at the back of his mind as he aims to help Albion push for the top six.

The Irishman said: “My contract is up this summer. I think half the squad are in that position!

“I don’t know what will happen but it’s one of those things that is not really in your hands.

“You just concentrate on playing.

“I think everyone would like to know where they stand but that’s not how it is. You just get on with it.”

Dicker, who initially joined the club on loan in March 2009, reckons recent history suggests Albion fans should not fear big-name departures this month.

Instead, he expects Gus Poyet to add his squad in readiness for a play-off challenge.

He added: “In the past, players who have moved on have gone in the summer so I don’t think the club are under any pressure to sell people.

“Hopefully we get players in to help us push on.”
