Crawley have signed striker Jimmy Spencer on loan Huddersfield for the rest of the season.

Spencer will link up with Reds next week and so will not be available for Saturday's trip to Tranmere.

The 21-year-old is Reds boss Richie Barker's second signing of the transfer window after bringing in Lateef Elford-Alliyu from Bury.

Barker said: "Jimmy is a player who has been on our radar for a while and we are delighted to have him at Crawley, as quite a few clubs were keen to take him on loan.

"He’s a good size physically, is quick and will give us options up front. He jarred his knee in training and won’t be joining us until next Friday once he has made a full recovery but we’re looking forward to having him here and helping our push for the play-offs."

Spencer is likely to be joined by midfielder Matt Sparrow who is expected to sign for Reds following his release by Brighton.

Spencer has made just one substitute appearance for Huddersfield in the Championship this season and one in the Capital One Cup.

He also had a loan spell at Brentford, making two appearances as a substitute.

Spencer scored ten goals in 41 league games on loan to League Two outfit Cheltenham last season and has had previous loan spells at Morecambe and Northwich.
