Gus Poyet praised Albion’s flying start at The Amex – and said his side deserved their win over Derby.

Ashley Barnes and Andrea Orlandi netted in the first half-hour but Jeff Hendrick’s second-half reply put home nerves on edge.

Boss Poyet said: "You need to start well and if you have a chance you’ve got to score.

“I think the movement (for the first goal) was very good, even looked easy.

“Then when you have David Lopez on the ball you know he would wait for the player (Barnes) to be free before passing it.

“That was the calmness you need to be play at home and be a little bit more relaxed.

“Then with the second shot on target we scored the second which was even better so overall I thought it was a totally deserved win.”

Poyet admitted Derby made life more uncomfortable in the last 20 minutes.

He added: “We made a few silly fouls and we gave them a chance.

“Our keeper today didn’t make a save so I don’t think there is too much to complain about."
