  • Barnes equlises, David adds second
  • Zigic levels in added time
  • Five pages of coverage in The Argus on Monday

4:58pm

Feels like a defeat right now but in time we might see this as a decent point. Thanks for joining me this afternoon

4:57pm

Finished 2-2. Harsh on Albion to be pegged back like that after producing a really good performance. Uncharacteristic mistake from Kuszczak who had his head in his hands as he walked off

4:55pm

Mistake from Kuszczak two minutes into added time as he fumbles a tame header from Zigic over the line.

4:48pm

Superb block by Greer to deny Zigic in a dangerous position with five minutes remaining.

4:46pm

Vicente on for CMS with eight minutes remaining Morrison on for Reilly or Birmingham

4:39pm

El-Abd becomes fourth Albion player booked for foul on sub King. Now Dicker on for Orlandi

4:33pm

Buckley on for David 70 mins, King on for Redmond for Birmingham

4:31pm

Greer becomes third Albion player booked after Bridcutt and Calderon

4:24pm

Caldwell booked for a foul just outside the penalty area and Orland's on-target free-kick was punched away for a corner by Butland

4:22pm

Orlandi's shot deflected over the bar with Barnes unmarked outside of him

4:20pm

Birmingham have more of a presence with Zigic up front but Albion are looking threatening on the counter attack

4:14pm

Crowd is 15,229 with 1,221 travelling fans which is tremendous considering the weather.

4:07pm

Sub before second half gets under way. Big striker Zigic on for midfielder Elliott

4:04pm

Teams are back out ...

3:59pm

If scores stay as they are Albion would be up seventh tonight, within five points of Palace with a game in hand

3:56pm

That's three in six games for David but his first from open play. And his first away from The Amex

3:54pm

Albion have never scored twice at Birmingham before and lost. First time was the 2-1 win in 1989 and then a 3-3 draw in 1995

3:50pm

Half-time: 2-1 to Albion. Great response from Albion after going behind and two good finishes too. The home fans are not happy

3:48pm

Albion take the lead as Bridge's cross falls for DAVID who meets it with a fierce volley which is too hot for Butland as it ripples the net. 43 mins

3:45pm

Left-footed strike from Burke from just inside the box looks like it is heading in but Kuszczak is equal to it with a fine one-handed save. 40 mins

3:41pm

Not much going the way of CMS at the moment but Barnes is playing well again

3:38pm

I wish he had Mikey. Unfortunately cold fingers pressed the buttom twice. However, Albion are playing pretty well so let's hope I can tell you about a second

3:36pm

Youngster Callum Reilly fires one narrowly over the bar for Birmingham but aside from that Albion are looking quite sharp now

3:32pm

Orlandi brought down on edge of area by Caldwell. Ref gave it just outside and David's free-kick is deflected over the bar. This is better fro Albion

3:29pm

That's more like it. Orlandi plays the ball inside and BARNES drills home from 20 yards for his second goal in as many games. 24mins

3:25pm

On Ulloa, no,we have asked and no one has confirmed that but I can't see any other reason why he wouldn't be involved today. Rest assured, we will be asking Gus afterwards as we all want to see him involved

3:23pm

Birmingham take the lead through CALDWELL'S header from a Rob Hall corner from the right. He met it well. 18 minutes

3:17pm

Chris Burke curls a left-footed shot well wide for Birmingham on 10 mins

3:14pm

Rob Hall's free-kick from 22 yards took a deflection to wrong-foot Kuszczak but flew wide of the fr post for a corner

3:12pm

All quiet in terms of chances after 7 mins

3:09pm

Difficult to see how many Albion fans there are due to a low gantry but they are in good voice on a cold afternoon

3:06pm

Albion have started with Barnes to the left of CMS with David to his right and Orlandi, looking for a third goal in as many games, in left midfield

2:58pm

Players are on their way out to the tune of Mr Blue Sky ...

2:54pm

Albion have slipped a place to ninth after Nottingham Forest's 1-1 draw with Derby, which has just finished

2:29pm

Albion have only ever won here once, back in 1989. Let's hope we can change that today

2:20pm

Hoping for a Cyclone here but instead got melting snow. I would settle for a win and an appearance from Vicente

2:10pm

King on the bench for Birmingham along with Zigic; the highly-rated Butland back in goal

2:10pm

Birmingham: Butland; Caddis, Davies, Caldwell, Robinson; Burke, Gomis, Reilly, Elliott; Redmond, Hall. Subs: Hancox, Mullins, Morrison, Lovenkrands, King, Zigic, Doyle.

2:07pm

Albion: Kuszczak; Calderon, Greer, El-Abd, Bridge; Bridcutt, David, Hammond; Barnes, Mackail-Smith, Orlandi. Subs: Dunk, Dicker, Vicente, LuaLua, Buckley, Hoskins, Ankergren

2:06pm

The team news is CMS is back in place of Will Buckley as the only change. Ulloa is not in the squad, we assume international clearance did not come through in time

I have been banging on about how we should try to get two Ulloa types, two new strikers instead of just one.

Today Ulloa is out due to paper work but what if the reason was an injury, we would be back to a starting eleven such as this one.

If this starting eleven was considered short of the mark prior to Ulloa's arrival then it would remain so if he were out injured.

I still say we need a second striker, preferably one above 5 ft 10 inches tall.

"We assume international clearance did not come through in time".

No doubt a reasonable assumption - but does The Argus not have links with people in the club who can provide factual information? Isn't this what journalists are supposed to do?

Anyway, UTA - 3 pts and I'll be happy.

For goodness sake, I take your point but how many strikers do you want. We have done o.k. with the strikers we have, but the signing of Ulloa is hopefully going to take us to the next level. We cannot keep signing strikers on the basis that the best one might get injured. I am sure CMS, Barnes and Hoskins still all have an important part to play althogh probably not Dobbie.

We have CMS, Hoskins, Dobbie, Barnes and now Ulloa all vying for, from what we've seen so far from Gus, one spot in the team. Ulloa definitely adds different options meaning we could have a second striker playing off of him but I'm not sure we need anymore strikers if all of the above stay in the transfer window. If Ulloa isn't available, we will just revert to how we have been lining up. If Vicente starts playing regularly, I actually think the desperate need for a target man decreases anyway as he will be able to provide better service for our "smaller" strikers. But it is definitely another string to our bow to have the target man option.

Some people are still passionate about getting other strikers. Ok maybe a couple of half chances missed but bgham had a few chances also. The problem eas not strikers but discipline to the final whistle ehich is always difficult when 3 of your defenders are on yellow cards. Less cards more discipline. Strikers seem to be eanting to impress now with ulloa looming.
