Poyet waits Ulloa clearance

Leonardo Ulloa warms up at Birmingham Leonardo Ulloa warms up at Birmingham

Gus Poyet hopes to have new signing Leonard Ulloa available for Tuesday’s trip to Blackburn.

The Argentinean striker was not able to feature at Birmingham today as international clearance was not received in time.

Poyet said: “It's just paperwork. You never know why it goes so slow but it's not in my hands.”

So what are the chances of him being available for Tuesday? Poyet added: “I thought in January things were done quicker at the FA. Apparently not.

“It's not frutsrating, they have got everything and everything is fine and we need to finish it so do the paperwork.”

Howard, where did you get this mind boggling news at 1800 hrs on a Saturday evening nearly 30 hours after the dead line of Friday 18th January 2013?

How many press conferences have there been since midday yesterday, when the question could have been asked? Also it seems BHA were deliberately withholding the info, presumably to not give too much away to Birmingham.

Much needed. Hope he is the man.

He needs players around him to succeed - not the lone ranger role that CMS has had to endure for so long. Even the great Barcelona usually have several players around the box where they play intricate little passes to each other to create goals for Messi and Villa.

Gus only goes for it (usually far too late)when we need a goal/s to equalise or to try and win. Today we didn't go for it - until they scored their equaliser with 2 mins of extra time left. The forward-thinking urgency which suddenly erupted all but got us the winner. Just goes to show that we could/should have won this game 4-1 if we had shown that urgency when 2-1 ahead.

You could ask the question all you want mate, but the club would not release that information prior to the team sheet release, which is 1 hour before the game. Its called keeping your opponent guessing.
Make sense ?

A little difference is all that is required.

So for someone trying to stir the pot once again, you have only succeeded in writing what is actual fact.

A lot could hinge on how Ulloa and Vicente strike up an understanding. If they come in and combine well with the team it has the potential to put us in the premier league. A good win on Tuesday will be acceptable before the Arsenal game and some more interesting team selections coming up with the options we have now I think.

i do hope this works out for ulloa.but what was wrong with signing chris wood?he played and scored against us a couple of weeks ago and looked much improved.my worry with ulloa is about his match fitness.hes not played for a while. schoolboy defending for the first goal is a worry.you cant legislate for keeper errors now and then.it happens.need to iron out the defensive problems gus.

I think that Chris Wood could have been signed before, if Gus had rated him more highly. The fact that we didn't make a strong bid to keep him after his loan spell expired, probably left Wood feeling unwanted. By the time Gus had decided that he did want him, so did half a dozen other clubs. Leicester is closer to the midlands where he has been based for the last few years, and they have a far more attacking emphasis than we do, so it must have been quite easy for Chris to decide that Leicester was a team which would suit his style of play. Just look at the great partnership he has already built with Nugent. They are a formidable striking pair, something that Gus hasn't had for two years now, and never will have as long as he persists with his one striker policy!
It beats me that he has never tried CMS with Will Hoskins.

Chris Wood wanted to go to Leicester simple. If you want to come on here giving your BS, at least entertain us with some football intelligence.

I agree with your sentiments towards Taffster, Hovite, but not your intolerant way of delivering it. he has a right to say what he thinks - even if that is not, in your opinion, very interesting or intelligent.

Ok so it is fine for this wum and his other pseudonyms to spout rubbish, but as soon as I speak the truth, I am unpleasant and rude? How can I be rude and personal to a virtual fake name? Who am I insulting?

Freedom of speech works both ways and from what I can remember I’ve never been rude to a mikeygit so I don’t know why he is offended.

Who is Hovite anyway?

Does anyone know just how many goals we have conceded late on - and how many points this has cost us? I would guess, off the top of my head we could have had about 10 points more this season.

That is obvious - mate, but it's clear what my point is - but you're choosing to act dumb - if you took the last 10 minutes in isolation, we'd probably have the worst defensive record in the division if not the football league. Get it?

Every team concedes more goals late on, it’s a statistical fact .The trolls can influence us to focus on the negative.

Agreed , are you going to inform Gus of a tactics change with his subs, as for this dream of a play off place to happen then change of emphasis is required i am afraid unlees current top six falter badly this is going to be about where we finish.

Ulloa exerting effort in and around the box, CMS nipping around picking up the pieces, Hoskins in the wings waiting for his chance,... mouth watering.

mikeygit says...
2:39pm Sun 20 Jan 13

Agree with most comments--I do hope Hoskins gets his chance and that Gus rotates the squad to allow him to get back into the team. Hoskins certainly makes a difference when he does come on. Cannot see Dobbie having much of a future with us--does not seem to feature much--pity as he came with such great expectations and like many I feel he has not been given much of an opportunity to shine.

Gee Jay says...

Dobbie has had about as much time to shine as a Mars Bar in a Glaswegian chippy.

Why don't you people wake up to the reason Gus don't play Hoskins. Its the same reason Norwich wanted Croft out asap.Don't you people ever ask yourself why Brighton were the only club after Hoskins. They all knew about the trouble he was at Watford thats why.The word soon gets around in the football world.Just like it has with Dunk.
