Tomasz Kuszczak is relishing the chance for Albion to show their Premier League credentials.

The Seagulls host Arsenal in the last 32 of the FA Cup on Saturday, having already knocked out Newcastle United in the third round.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Kuszczak has made no secret of his desire to return to the Premier League with Albion since joining last summer.

That explained his disappointment despite bouncing back from a costly error at Birmingham last Saturday with a man-of-the-match display in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Blackburn.

He said: “It was a good point but we are looking for something more than just collecting points.

“We want to achieve something more this season and maybe have a chance to go up to the Premier League.

“It is not every day you play a team like Arsenal. It is good for fans and good for us to see where we are.

“We did well against Newcastle. Now it is a bigger team coming again. We are going to try to impress and play well and maybe get a good result.”

Kuszczak is aware he may not feature against Arsenal. Manager Gus Poyet opted to play back-up goalkeeper Casper Ankergren in the last round and may do so again.

Albion’s No. 1, though, was pleased to get out of his system the error against Birmingham when he fumbled a tame header over the line in the second minute of stoppage time to hand the home side a share of the spoils.

He added: “I am a goalkeeper. It is my job. I have enough experience to understand how league football is. Some days you do well, some days the easiest ball can hurt you. This happened to me.

“I hope it is not going to happen again but this is football, it may happen. You have to live with that and try to think about the next game.”
