Bridcutt says Poyet is going right to the top

Liam Bridcutt (pictured) says Albion chief Gus Poyet will manage in the Premier League Liam Bridcutt (pictured) says Albion chief Gus Poyet will manage in the Premier League

LIAM BRIDCUTT believes Albion boss Gus Poyet is destined for a top job in the Premier League.

The Seagulls midfielder hopes Albion, under their charismatic manager, will soon join today’s FA Cup opponents Arsenal in the top-flight of English football.

But Bridcutt is convinced Poyet is good enough to get there anyway.

He said: “Gus has had a great career as a player and will have a massive career as a manager.

“His determination and high standards is brilliant. It rubs off on to the players every day.

“He doesn’t want to be a Championship manager for the rest of his life. “It is only a matter of time before Gus goes on to bigger and better things.”

Bridcutt, below, spent his formulative years in the youth teams and reserves at Chelsea.

It was there that he played under another bright, young manager in Brendan Rodgers, who is now at Liverpool after spells at Reading and Swansea.

Bridcutt, 23, said: “I have been very fortunate with the managers I have had. Brendan Rodgers is quite similar to Gus in a way in that he is very driven, determined, willing to learn.

“The progress he has made in his career has been excellent and has proved that hard work can pay off.

“It is only a matter of time before Gus gets the same opportunities to manage a top club.”

It will be a great loss to the Albion if he does go.

Gus is proving himself to be one of the all round top managers in the country.
We beat Chelsea 3-1 pre season lets do the same to Arsenal.

He wants to get there with The Albion. His best chance of a top job (which for Gus means Chelsea or Spurs) is to get BHA up, and to keep us up.

If he does that he'll be considered as a candidate for the type of job he wants.

Lets hope both Poyet and Bridcutt get to the Prem with us. I think we will have to get there very soon to keep hold of Bridcutt! Especially as i can see him having another brilliant game today!

I might be wrong but I think we have a bit longer for Gus. I can't see him leaving, at the moment, unless its a really big club, Chelsea being the obvious one. As things stand with us and Villa, I don't think he'd go there. They have a weak team with no time and possibly no funds to bring in new players this season. Relegation is a real possibility. We might not go up this year but with "his" team coming very much together, the new training ground on its way. I don't think he would consider Villa for too long.

By next week, I might be regretting this post with Gus at Villa and taking Bridcutt with him before the window shuts! This post would be the least of my worries then!!!

Yes I agree Gus is destined for bigger things--and hopefully with Albion--but things cannot last for ever and I guess we have to realistic and know that he will be off one day. But I believe he has a lot of work to do with BHA to build up his CV before he can hold his own with a really big club.
Off topic I see that our Fergie is spitting his dummy out again--accusing the FA of 'picking on him' Poor luv!!

Lambert won't lose his job, not even if they are relegated.
I do believe that the club have made this public, but I guess he could walk away but I doubt it.

We talk on here of how we should buy players with a proven track record, I think the same goes for management jobs.

The idea that Gus could walk into Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs and pick up the reins is not realistic.
To land one of the top 6 management jobs He will need to prove himself first with one or two of the middle order prem clubs, similar to the Rodgers route.

Liam, not just Poyet going to the top...I will be proud when I see you in an England shirt, patrolling the back 4

My fear regarding Liam is that a good offer comes in for him with just hours left of the window. We would have the money but not enough time to buy the right replacement.

5 or 6 million would be about right and I doubt we would stand in his way.
For the lad to say yes to a move up I htink it would have to be a club that is clear of relegation, Stoke could be right for him. Of the top clubs, maybe Swansea or even Liverpool.
