Ulloa starts for Seagulls Ulloa starts for Seagulls

Leo Ulloa has been handed his Albion debut – from kick-off.

The recently-signed Argentinian starts in attack in the the FA Cup fourth round tie versus Arsenal at The Amex.

He will be flanked in attack by Ashley Barnes and Will Buckley.

Casper Ankergren, who kept a clean sheet against Newcastle in the last round, again plays in goal.

The Seagulls face a massive challenge if they are to repeat that feat against the Gunners.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud team up in a powerful looking front line for the visitors.

Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla are among their subs.

Albion: Ankergren, Calderon, Greer, El-Abd, Bridge; Bridcutt, Hammond, David; Buckley, Barnes, Ulloa. Subs: Kuszczak, Painter, Dicker, Orlandi, LuaLua, Vicente, Mackail-Smith.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Santos; Diaby, Ramsey, Rosicky; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud, Podolski. Subs: Mannone, Sagna, Gibbs, Wilshere, Cazorla, Arshavin, Walcott.

Good team selection with one eye on Sheffield Wed which is more important than this match if we wasn't to reach the playoffs.

A bit of a safe formation for me. i would've liked either Vicente or Orlandi to start maybe at the expense of Hammond. I just feel that there needs to be a bit more creativity. I guess it will be down to Buckley and Lopez.

Grea to see Ulloa start and Buckley. It feels like ages ago since we started Buckley

Meant to read if we want to reach the playoffs and not wasn't.

Just heard team news and would have preferred Kuszszak to have been in goal and suprised Orlandi on bench.Good to see Ulloa involved but think he might have been better as sub.
Not really sure re this line up but lets see.It would be nice to have a settled team at some stage especially with the league run in but that does not seem to be Gus's way.

Brave line up. Hope it works out. We have a great bench today, who I hope can make the difference in the second half.

No Hoskins or Dobbie in the squad and pity CMS not alongside Ulloa. Wonder what the future holds for Hoskins?? Be a great match I am sure with a record crowd. UTA

Also, I feel big gamble by Gus preffering Casper than Kuz!

Good line-up. Will be great to see what Ulloa is going to give us. Need to get Buckley running at Santos as he is poor defensively. Strong options on the bench.

COME ON THE ALBION!!!

Greer injury a big blow. Not just for today either! Calderon into the centre, Lopez right-back, Dicker into midfield.

Need to keep it tight to half time. Playing really well so far!!!

Well, holding our own in the first half--Greer looks as if he will be out for a while if it is a hamstring---more need now for someone else in the transfer window. Interesting second half--hope if Vicente comes on he does not get a hamstring---otherwis
e thats him done for the season!!

Albion score again 2-2!!! Ulloa scores, assist by Barnes--so the Barnes who is no good has scored one and one assist against The Gunners!!!!

Barnes has been really good today. Also, Hammond has played much better. Looks like we may have a centre forward on our hands too!!!

Magic 10 minutes from Vicente could win this. BRING ON THE SPANIARD!

CMS instead. Maybe he can force a mistake out of their back 4. Great debut from Ulloa!

Oh well 2-3 Did we really want a replay?? I think not we now need to concentrate on the league. Another match could have meant more injuries--no doubt that is why Gus did not bring on Vicente--did not want to risk him. But all in all a good work out and a test of the kind of opposition could expect IF they get promotion. Be good to hear from those at the match and also how many were there. Not disappointed, but seems we gave a good account of ourselves. CMS missed one near the end as he could not get his head on it---would Ulloa??

I think ulloa should have stayed on. Should not have used cms due to injuries. Ok we dont really want the replay but cmon, the revenue is good. Liked the first ulloa performance but i think hoskins or dobbie or both will play off him well. David is class so need to use him more. We have shown what we can do against prem sides so lets get the promotion.

Great work Seagulls, Ulloa super - should have seen out 90, sure he would have put that in for our 3rd. Lets go and make sure we play Arsenal twice at least next year, things look good.

That assumes that Ulloa had enough energy to keep playing for the full 90 minutes?

Barnes does - why not, not like he has been sitting around whilst we were all waiting for that clearance to come through

On this showing we have a bargain. Hold up play and ball control was good and took goal really well. Thought we were teriffic today . Perhaps if we had not weakened goal keeping position we may have avoided at least last goal. Let's hope Buckley and Greer fit for next game.

seagullsays says...
6:38pm Sat 26 Jan 13

Listening to GP on the radio, Greer definitley out for at least a couple of weeks, but he was unsure about Buckley. Although I think he's had hamstring troubles before, so don't feel overly optimistic. Barnes was MOM for me today, a goal, an assist, helped out defensively, and excellent work rate. Although, the latter two points apply to almost everyone today. Arsenal were very good I thought, moving the ball about so quickly. Really enjoyed the game, despite the defeat. Concentrate on the league now!

Great display in front on 27,113--another record gate. BUT why has the Argus not posted a report!!! If we can hold Arsenal to 2-3 then we could certainly hold our own against those lower in the Premier league GREAT SHOW LADS--now a repeat in the league
