Full-time

4:54pm

Albion, though, were at full stretch to avert further damage at the other end, where Walcott and Wilshere had made a big difference.

4:53pm

Barnes fired a ball across the goalmouth but there was no home player there to meet it.

4:51pm

Mackail-Smith, under a lot of pressure, headed wide as the game moved into four added minutes. Some home fans thought ref Oliver was pointing to the penalty spot - but he was just signalling a goal kick.

4:50pm

Now Arsenal looked to kill the tie off. Walcott outpaced Bridge and El-Abd but was denied by Ankergren. Then the keeper blocked a full-blooded Podolski volley.

4:47pm

Giroud's overhead kick was deflected for a corner, Ankergren punched the flag kick away but WALCOTT volleyed goalwards from the edge of the box and the ball deflected in off El-Abd.

4:45pm

Then play swept to the other end and Arsenal went ahead for the third time.

4:44pm

LuaLua unlocked the Arsenal defence in the 84th minute wth a terrific inswinging cross but neither Barnes nor Mackail-Smith could get get on the end of it.

4:42pm

Giroud might have had his hat-trick in the 82nd minute but his volley bounced wide.

4:40pm

4:39pm

Gibbs - on target from left-back at Swansea in the previous round - took over from Santos in the 79th minute.

4:38pm

The momentum of an enthralling tie had shifted again with Arsenal looking to head off a replay back at the Emirates. Walcott got in behind Bridge in the 78th minute but El-Abd hurried across to make a very timely challenge.

4:36pm

Mackail-Smith's first action was to head an Arsenal corner behind. His second was to head that flag kick to safety midway inside the Albion half.

4:35pm

Before the free-kick could be taken, Mackail-Smith replaced Ulloa. Then Giroud chipped the set-piece off target from the edge of the box.

4:34pm

Bridge played his side into trouble with an inexplicable scooped pass from deep inside his own area. Barnes was booked for a foul in trying to retrieve the situation.

4:29pm

Wenger had plenty of options on his bench. Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rosicky made way for Walcott and Wilshere in the 70th minute.

4:28pm

Ramsey became the second Arsenal booking when he brought down LuaLua on 67 minutes. The first was Giroud for his celebration of his second goal among the Arsenal fans.

4:27pm

I'm sure you know but the JB quoted in the previous tweet was John Byrne.

4:24pm

Albion, though, dragged themselves level in the 63rd minute with a great moment for their new striker. Barnes whipped in a cross from wide on the right and ULLOA netted with a diving header in front of the North Stand.

4:22pm

Giroud was in again as he held off Calderon when they chased a long ball out of defence. But this time Ankergren was able to block the former Montpellier star's blast.

4:20pm

Diaby threaded a pass into the run of GIROUD and he held off El-Abd before thrashing a volley past Ankergren.

4:19pm

Podolski hit the bar from a free-kick in the 54th minute but Arsenal scored three minutes later.

4:10pm

4:06pm

Buckley had picked up a knock late in the first half.

Second half is under way with LuaLua on for Buckley.

Half-time

3:48pm

We were now into three added minutes.

3:48pm

When Albion got the ball back, Calderon made it clear his positional switch would not stop him galloping forward down the right. Hammond shuffled across to fill his defensive area.

Then Ramsey threatened for Arsenal. David Lopez thought he had done enough to win a goal kick but ref Oliver thought otherwise and awarded a corner. This time Dicker produced the headed clearance - and Santos fired a lazy 30-yarder way over the bar.

3:44pm

Arsenal went on to enjoy a good spell of pressure but Albion got everyone except Ulloa back and kept their shape.

3:41pm

Ulloa headed away the next Arsenal corner - then produced a super left-foot clearance at full stretch when Jenkinson whipped the ball back into the danger area.

3:39pm

Albion were buzzing now - but they had a setback in the 36th minute when Greer limped off injured. Dicker replaced him with Calderon switching to central defence and David Lopez to right back. Calderon also assumed the captaincy.

3:37pm

It almost got better as Buckley tricked his way inside Santos but shot straight at Szczesny.

3:37pm

3:35pm

The flag delayed the equaliser by just three minutes. Then Buckley won a corner which was whipped in David Lopez and BARNES got in front of Szczensy to power home a header.

3:33pm

The danger came after Santos took the ball off Buckley and looked to run it out of defence. Calderon won the ball back and curled in a low cross which took a touch off Barnes before being turned in by Ulloa arriving behind him. It was unclear from initial viewing who was offside.

3:31pm

Ulloa had the ball in the net on the half-hour - but celebrations were cut short by an offside flag.

3:27pm

Then Calderon got Buckley breaking to the byline. Buckley whipped in a low cross to which Barnes got a flick but the ball flashed past Ulloa - and into the hands of Szczesny - before the debutant had time to react.

3:24pm

Albion took a few minutes to recover from that setback. They enjoyed some possession in the 23rd minute and created space for Calderon to cross from the right. His ball in was mis-directed but produced a few "ooohhs" from the crowd as it cleared Szczesny and dropped on top of the net.

3:21pm

3:19pm

Albion fell behind in the 16th minute, just moments after they should have gone ahead. Ulloa and David Lopez combined superbly to get Barnes in behind the defence but his volley - not cleanly struck - was deflected just wide by Szczesny.
The Gunners replied with an attack of their own and GIROUD had space to curl a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.

3:13pm

David Lopez was the first name in the book after he tripped Rosicky just inside the Albion half to cut short a counter attack.

3:12pm

Albion then got hold of the ball and produced a neat passing move - including a nice touch under pressure by Ulloa - before David Lopez released Bridge wide on the left. But the full-back's cross drifted behind for a goal kick.

3:11pm

Bridcutt had the North Stand singing his name as he broke up Podolski's efforts to work a one-two on the edge of that penalty area.

3:08pm

3:08pm

Oxlade-Chamberlain delivered a deep cross from the right which forced Calderon into an awkward stooping header to concede a corner after the ball bounced up just in front of him. Ulloa then nodded away the resulting flag kick.

3:06pm

3:05pm

Greer's back pass then forced Ankergren to dribble away from the oncoming Giroud in front of goal and keep his cool before getting the ball back to his skipper.

3:04pm

Koscielny had to dribble his way out out of a tricky spot in his own area in the opening seconds before the Gunners settled.

3:01pm

Arsenal kicked off defending the South Stand amid the sort of atmosphere to which we became accustomed at The Amex last season.

3:00pm

And we're under way.

3:00pm

2:56pm

2:55pm

The pre-game atmosphere is back to what we became used to last season as we await a big game - though not a crucial game in Albion's season. Team news and full line-ups are elsewhere on this site but of most note is the debut of Leo Ulloa, the former Arsenal de Sarandi man now facing Arsenal of London.

2:54pm

Here we go then!
