Albion give trial to Ince
8:53pm Monday 28th January 2013 in Sport By Andy Naylor
Albion gave a run-out to Rohan Ince in a 4-0 win for the development squad against Ipswich at rain and windswept Lancing tonight.
The giant 20-year-old from Chelsea featured in the centre of defence in a line-up which also included strikers Will Hoskins and Stephen Dobbie.
Injury-plagued Ince, third cousin of Paul and nephew of former Albion centre-half Eric Young, had a loan spell at League One Yeovil earlier this season.
Lewis Dunk was due to partner Ince but was delayed getting back from the Old Bailey, where he is involved in a court case.
Marcos Painter's arrival was also delayed, so he only played the second half.
Ipswich defender Joe Whight gifted Albion the lead on the stroke of half-time with an own goal as he attempted to clear a Solly March effort off the line.
Whight then brought down Ben Sampayo just inside the box early in the second half but Dobbie, on target from the spot for the first team at Wolves earlier in the season, spooned the penalty over the bar.
Dobbie made amends by setting up Hoskins for Albion's second goal on 76 minutes. Hoskins added the third with a sweet volley five minutes later and Dobbie cleverly dinked the fourth (90) after hitting the outside of a post from a tight angle moments earlier.
Albion switched the game from The Amex to Lancing to protect the pitch, with two home matches in four days looming for the first team early next month against Hull and Blackburn Rovers.
Albion (4-1-2-3): Brezovan; Richards (Painter 46), Ince, Akubuine, Sampayo; Kasim; March, Oatway Jnr; Goodwin (Dickenson 62), Hoskins, Dobbie. Subs not used: East, Agdestein.

Development Squad? Dobbie? Hoskins? Brezovan? Well... I suppose it's a game!

Was this lad wearing a headband? Eric Young was built like a brick s+++house. Did a good job for us before moving on to Wimbledon, then Palace. Hope this lad is a bit more mobile than uncle Eric. But either way he can probably do a job for us.

Exactly what a joke!!! Toby was on the bench, development is a joke
Not sure we need any more players on trial?

Would this guy not do a good job for us? He is certainly proven at Championship level and arguably in the Premiership too.
At 27 he will be in the prime of his life and at £1 million would represent tremendous value for money.

Curtis Davies is on more than double our top earner so is a totally unrealistic option. That's why B'ham are desperate to get rid and balance the books.

I see that Reading look like they are preparing a bid for Birminghams Curtis Davis and rumours are that it will be for about £1 million.

My wife's first husband has an uncle whose stepson by a third marriage has a grandfather who used to play for Corinthian Casuals. Apparently the uncle's cousin, twice removed, is a reasonably good centre back in Broadbrdge Heath's reserve team... I can't understand why he wasn't playing last night at Culver Road. Amazing!

"Injury-plagued Ince" - in which case, why even consider him; we already have injury-prone players, so why even contemplate signing another one?

Good to see Will Hoskins playing well and scoring ... I still cant believe that Gus sees BARNES as better than HOSKINS ! I don't care about the back tracking BARNES does , i like watching HOSKINS link up play and finishing and his much higher skill levels ! I think there must be something more to the situation, maybe a clash of personalities with Gus maybe...
Did anybody go last night and watch the game ?
Any news on JFC ?
