Goalkeeper becomes Crawley's seventh signing of transfer window
10:00am Tuesday 29th January 2013 in Sport By Steve Hollis
John Akinde has turned down a loan move to Cambridge United
Crawley completed their seventh signing of the January transfer window after bringing in goalkeeper Johnny Maddison on loan for the rest of the season from Sunderland yesterday.
Maddison goes straight into the squad for tonight’s clash with Preston at Broadfield Stadium.
Crawley boss Richie Barker moved to sign the 18-year-old after allowing veteran stopper Michel Kuipers to leave on Friday. Maddison, a second year scholar at Sunderland, will provide cover for regular No.1 Paul Jones.
Barker said: “He is only 18 but he has trained with the first team at Sunderland. I would be confident he could see us through in a game if he was needed and beyond that we would have to take a look at it again.”
Meanwhile, out-of-favour striker John Akinde has turned down another chance to go out on loan, this time to Conference premier side Cambridge United.
Jimmy Spencer has finally linked up with Crawley two weeks after joining on loan from Huddersfield but the striker ruled out tonight due to a knee injury.

I have said it before there is still no reason why this club cant make a glorious bid for that last play off place on route to a record breaking 3rd promoton.
Its a case of sticking together accross the board and everyone doing their bit and staying positive.
All connections have a chance of a once in a life time's oportunity over the next few months. Lets take it !!
