Dave Jones reckons Sheffield Wednesday shook Albion out of their stride at Hillsborough yesterday.
Wednesday took their recent run to ten points from four games by beating the Seagulls 3-1.
Boss Jones revealed: "We had a plan. We knew they would try to keep the ball.
"The only place we were going to allow them to keep it was in their last third, not ours.
"We forced mistakes. We broke one-on-one and probably, with a bit more luck, could have made the game easier.
"They are not going to roll over because they are a good team so we earned the three points."
Jones felt Ashley Barnes deserved to see red.
He said: "The sending off was pivotal and deservedly so."
Jones also backed referee Simon Hooper's decision to send him to the stand, followed by Albion coach Charlie Oatway.
"He made the right decision. He calmed the situaion down.
"Both benches went back to their boxes and everything settled."
