Loved the way El Abd barged the entire Hull wall 10 foot sideways to allow Vincenze to score. Bit like pulling curtains to one side

Fair comments I think from Gus. One way traffic in the first half. Outstanding performance from Kusczak in the second.

Excellent open game of football. Would have been the most entertaining 0-0 I have ever seen but Vicente goal was the icing on the cake.

It wasn't just Steve Bruce, even Sky admitted it Gus.

Gus you took your chances and won, thats all you need to say, if you are to succeed at times you need to play the media better.

I think we will see Brighton fighting in the play offs alongside us (Hull), as personally where the fourth best side in this division.

However, Gus i think you need to learn a few things, we have lost more than you, but won far more to, we go for wins, we do not play for draws, so i really do not know where your coming from.

A disappointed, but pleased Hull fan.

Ypur team played well today but didn't appear to show up for the first half.
Bruce must have known how vital the win would be for Brighton today, he surely expected us to come out fighting so maybe it was his intent to sit back for the first half as Brighton do have a knack of conceding goals late in the second half.

Whilst on paper that might be a good idea it's only good if it works, and today it didn't.
Bruce somewhat bemoaned our keeper be able to make to great saves, but isn't that his job?

In fairness to you a draw might have been right but if you give up the first 45 minutes of any match, can you really say that you were worth a point?

Come for a win, play for a win but get a draw then ok. Come for a draw and play for a draw but lose out, wrong idea.

Lets not forget we played Hull off the park at their place and came away with nowt. What goes around comes around. So, everyone put your handbags away and take it for what it was. A GOOD BRIGHTON WIN, even if ol Pudgy nose couldn't see it.

Steve Bruce learnt a lot from Sir Alex, mainly about selective vision.

Perhaps to help you understand where Gus is coming from mate, the stats for the game show Brighton having 5 shots on goal to Hull's 3.
So if we take that and apply Steve Bruce's logic that taking you chances makes you the winners of the match, then I guess you lost fair and square.

Much ado about nothing really. Brighton had the better of the first half without looking totally convincing and Hull played well in the second half. A draw would have been a fair result but significant that Kuzczak was named Man of the Match on Sky. Not really sure why the two managers' opinions should differ so wildly.

There was not a lot between the teams.I just wonder why we dont play a really attacking line up with Lua Lua on one side and Buckley on the other from the start,this would be real attacking intent.Must also give praise to El-Abd after his treck to Egypt,he was magnificent.

I have never followed this game but I went to the American Express Community Stadium this afternoon. What a lovely building and such nice people there. But bewildered by the goal facililtated by Mr. El-Abd. Have seen this sort of thing in North America but didn't realise you could do it in British football. Such fun!

All managers (and fans) have selective vision. Of course Hull could have won 3 or 4 nil (IF all their chances had gone in AND none of Brighton's went in - that's football). If Barcelona had taken all their chances against Celtic and Chelsea they would have won 24 v 0 ! It's nonsense! Hull will feel slightly unlucky as although Brighton had the better chances in the first half I think it's fair to say Hull had a hatful in the second half and TK made at least 2 saves you wouldn't have blamed him for if they'd gone in. This does lead me to repeat a worry I have about Brighton is that they always seem to have worse 2nd halves than 1st. Does it take the oppo 45 mins to work us out?

Anyway well done for both teams going for it - Brighton must have had the most attacking 11 Gus has ever put out - Buckley Ulloa Vicente Orlandi CMS Lopez all on at one stage. Made for an excellent game helped by a ref willing to play advantage.

did you see all those pies bruce had in his pockets they were absolutly bulging.or was it his stomach... yes tug i think it was game set and match, we should have had more orlandi missed two sitters , and of course bruce has fogotten that his keeper made two terrific saves as well.. so on chances based on bruces theory we should have won 5-2.. but its still 3 points to us ..."seagulls" lets have a good win tue and then we really are back in the hunt..UTA......

Great win and good to see an attacking line-up for a change. Vicente made some great defence splitting passes and must start on Tuesday. We just have to play Buckley with him. He will deliver the balls to release Buckers behind the defence. CMS was really poor today. Like a boy playing in a man's game. Surely, Hoskins has to be given a chance alongside Ulloah. Kuz was a worthy MoM. some world class saves today. Couldn't understand how the match sponsors chose Bruno as MoM after the roasting Brady gave him.So roll on Tuesday. Excited already, but I hope Buckley & Vicente start and I'd dearly love to see Hoskins with Ulloah.

Hope Gus sticks with CMS and Ulloa and allows them to form a striking partnership. Thought the starting XI looked really well balanced today but would like to see a genuine winger in either Buckers or LuaLua start to give the front two some service. The problem is how to accommodate one of them without leaving us too exposed at the back. Not to mention The Dagger. A lot for Gus to chew on before another tough game against Blackburn, who have shot up the table in recent weeks. With Cardiff away to follow, it doesn't get any easier.

This was a massive win today. Great to see Vicente increase his game time as well as getting the goal because he has been out a long time and I'm sure he will get better.

Thought Ulloa looked a really intelligent player. Good vision, first touch and what a work horse!

Orlandi, despite a terrible miss, was class and I thought Upson showed his class too. Apart from Hammond who looked sloppy and slow mentally, the whole team did well.

I don't think it's a coincedence that we seem to be creeping back up since Gus has repeatedly spoken about making a push for the play offs replacing his previous 'we're not good enough to go up' attitude.

Keep it going against Blackburn on Tuesday and we can build a momentum. Also amazing how the other results went for us! Great day all round.

Great result last night and a great day given all of the 3 0'clock kick offs results.
I thought we were excellent in the 1st half and really should have made our superiority count, we didn't though and the game certainly livened up in the 2nd half.
They showed why they are up there with some excellent wing play and fantastic crosses in to our box, we dealt with it though and were still very much in the game. Orlandi certainly had the chance of the match.
The team looked bright, Orlandi class although he does like to duck a challenge and it was good to see Bruno back on the pitch, both he and Upson will only get better here on in.
I think in general the team had a good spirit and purpose about them.
Sadly I think Mr Hammond has found his level, you can't fault his effort and commitment to the cause but his lack of any pace at all was there for all to see last night. Deans lack of influence on the game was only further magnified when Vicente came on to replace him... What a player he is, we suddenly had 11 players on the pitch all contributing and with his added quality and vision we looked a very useful unit again.
Spanish Dave continues to grow on me after a slow start, good skill and vision and a very technically gifted player, still don't think he is a Buckley though.
So a good win against a good side, special praise to Kuz for a couple of world class saves but lets not take anything away from the outfield guys, a good effort all round.
Vicente and Buckley to start for me on Tuesday. Blackburn will be another really tough test and its actually them that I see as our major rival for 6th given Middlesbrough alarming form.

I thought it was the mark of a really good performace. It was a hard fought game gainst a good honest side which you would expect from a team managed by Steve Bruce.

Outstanding team performances by both sets of players.

Brilliant!!!! we certainly needed the win....but please no more last 5 minutes of biting my finger nails defending a 1 goal lead.its not good for my ticker.....

A fantastic game.Watched it in bright sunshine and the sleet looked nasty.

Unfortunately the club don't allow match sponsors to name goalkeepers as MOM in home games. Their choice was Kuszczak but they weren't allowed him. So much for their choice.

I think your summing up of Hammond and, of course, Vicente is spot on.
The player that for me continues to struggle every game though is CMS - his admirable work effort cannot mask his continuing poor form. A minority view I know, but it would be Hoskins alongside Ulloa for me on Tuesday.

I was a little surprised that Gus did not bring on Lua Lua as a sub but that said we were the better team for most of the game and by default at the end because we won.

WOH, I'll take Hoskins over CMS at the moment because as you say he does seem to be struggling. A great shame as he has such a fantastic work rate and is always one of the few players who thanks the fans post match. I know it's old school, Div. 1 stuff but I love it. I take back what I said in other posts about struggling to get into the play-offs, good result for us and thank you Barnsley. What do I know?

Firstly, it wasnt luck we won, at the start of the season gus recognised that we needed a number 1 and got his man. TK has made some mistakes this season but last night he proved why he has played at the highest level, a couple of outstanding saves which showed he is a top keeper.
The first half wasnt the best from either team but thought we edged it. In a way im glad poyet went for it and introduced vicente for hammond as it showed how open we would be if we played this way from the start -it would be suicide.
I dont agree that our new man haf a great game, for me he was average but after a few more games i think we will start to see the real player we signed.
CMS gets a lot of stick but to me he lacks confidence from not scoring as often as he should, once this is sorted i know he will come good.
Good to see vicente back and our bench looked so strong.
Well done to matty upson and el abd -who should really take his chance to learn frm upson whilst hes here.

Knew i had made the right decision to view on Sky when noting neither Buckley or Lua Lua were on from the start, as already mentioned why as the home side do we not take the game to the opposition right from the start,we can play the slow possession game when we are 2/3 goals up.
We were fortunate in taking the three points and have our goalkeeper to thank or that,from 70 mins on Hull were continually threatening our goal..

Mr potato head has his views of the game and Gus has his, its all media trollop anyways. My opinion on the game. Thought the first half was cautious and Hull were hopin to hit us on the break. In 2nd half Hull upped the tempo and were unlucky not to score but we coulda had 2 more ourselves. Stop whingin about what Mr Potato head says Gus he can't help it ;)

Your spot on Hull fan.Like sky did say you played Brighton off the park at some points.Which is how i saw it.If it was not for two world class saves from our keeper you would have won that game.Like they also pointed out Brighton & Hull have the same problem their strikes are not very good.Which is odd because with Hoskins we have spent over 7 million on strikers.

An excellent example of why watching a match on tv is entirely different to being there, one reason being that cameras follow the ball, not necessarily the pattern of play etc.
