Albion sign goalkeeping prospect
4:44pm Friday 15th February 2013 in Sport
Albion have added highly-rated Plymouth goalkeeper Christian Walton to their development squad after a successful trial.
The 17-year-old will complete a scholarship with the Seagulls before signing a three-year professional contract in the summer.
Goalkeeping coach Andy Beasley said: "I'm delighted to get him signed up. The scouting system did a great job in highlighting him so I went to watch him and straight away I was impressed by him.
"You could see how professional he already was as a young lad and then he produced in a game and that's what you want to see in a young boy."

A clear out must be coming, that's 3 already, I can name 4-5 who won't be here next season.
Pleased to see the continued recruiting activity with the DS. It is reassuring that the club is planning for the future. I wonder what fee was involved.

I think that there will be a clear out but not due to the DS signings.
As I know you are aware there are several players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season and those on loan to us will also be off the books.
Brighton, I am sure will go shopping, whether we are buying to stay in the prem or to get into the prem, we will be buying, it should be quite exciting to watch it all unfold.
Do you have any thoughts as to who might go and who might stay?

Out of the current first team squad as per seagulls.co.uk...
If in the Championship:
Bridge, Dobbie and Vicente are the only ones I see leaving.
If in the Premiership it's taxi for:
Hoskins, Ankergren, Brezovan, Painter, Hammond, Dobbie, Crofts, Dicker, Barnes, Calderon and Toby.
Just putting it out there.

I think your list of, 'if in the Championship,' list is a tad short, but I agree with those you did choose.
I would add to your Championship list, Brezovan along with Dobbie, (we know he is gone) and maybe Crofts and Toby.
Your prem list looks about right, maybe not Barnes though.
As you say, just putting it out there.

Lets speculate a bit. Come on we all love it. Just playing with peoples livelihoods can't do any harm can it?

Weird.
For me, Dobbie has already gone and Dicker, Hammond, Painter and Crofts should move on, whichever division we are in, so we need a bit of muscle in midfield to replace as what is left is skilled but lightweight.
If we don't go up we lose Vicente, Bridge and maybe Bridcutt if an offer comes.
If we go up we may keep all three but I think Bridge will have better offers and Vicente, who knows what his preference will be?
All the central defenders and the reserve 'keepers would seem vulnerable to me in a Premier side, depending on who we could bring in.
Strikers, one would have to go to make room for Zamora.

According to the "Daily Mail" today fee for Walton was £200,000 so can foresee a few comings and goings!
