Marcos Painter has joined Bournemouth on loan Marcos Painter has joined Bournemouth on loan

Albion full-back Marcos Painter has joined Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season.

The defender will is available for Cherries’ League One clash at Preston tomorrow.

Left-back Painter has found his first team opportunities limited at The Seagulls since the arrival of Wayne Bridge.

He will link up in the Bournemouth defence with former Albion duo Tommy Elphick and Steve Cook, although Elphick is currently injured.

Good move for Painter as he will get some much-needed football, but it does leave us short of cover for Bridge. How many more Brighton players will Bournemouth sign?

Grow up and be a man.Not everyone thinks the same as you. Some people do have their own minds.Do we all have to agree with you then?Stop making silly phone calls and be a man for once.If you have evidence that staff at other clubs are wrong about Hoskins please make it clear on here. This is how its 100% so clear your Hovite. He always seems to make the same threat when he can't win or get his point across.Your like a child that wants other posters to go please don't go old scrote because of that evil freeloaders lol.Get a life its just a football post site.

I agree. Not quite sure that leaving us short of cover for Bridge is the best idea.
Maybe Poyet has to 'free up' some of the wages budget to bring in a loan signing for Hoskins - just speculating.
Thoughts anyone ?

He is still valued and is only out on loan to get the games behind him.

I thought he played well when he covered for Bridge and he is still only 26. I don't think his career is over for us just yet and he has more to offer.

Good move for both parties. Very good player in League 1. Lacks pace for the Championship. Especially for the way Gus wants our full backs to get forward.

Ballantrrae - Can't imagine shipping Painter out would free up too much of the wage budget. Think it'll just be a case of getting him some game time. We can cover left-back easy enough. Obviously, if fit, Bridge plays. The Latvian fella has maybe impressed enough to suggest he could step in. Otherwise, Bruno or Calderon could switch. Or, at home, I think Orlandi could play there.

Well of course you got it right - you got it straight from the horses mouth - Gus told you at a petrol station pump when he was filling up didn't he !
As you are always right perhaps you'll to take this opportunity to endorse Gus's view that Adam El Abd is 'the best defender at the club'. Unless of course you still hold the view of that he is 'El Bad'. You are a 'brain dead mug' whose grasp of football and the English language are tenuous at best.

He surprised me with his performances when covering, he did very well, I was underwhelmed with his performances last season though, and he was horribly exposed by a few sides as lacking pace.
I don't think he will be back here, but Bridge is unlikely to be here also next season so Gus has to find a replacement for both in the summer.

Painter has been a real pro at the Albion. He had a fantastic season in our promotion year, reliable, consistent, good team player. He has bided his time, and stepped in when required.
Good luck to him.

Hovite says...

Baldseagull; I believe that the players we need for promotion will be here next season if we miss out this season.

If this season started with our current squad, including a fit Vicente we would be sitting in a comfortable position.

You have to agree that this season has been about the new players settling in and we are not the finished article.

Cardiff have been threatening promotion for the last two or three years and although they missed it last year, they continued this season from where they left off last.

Bridge and Vicente will be here for a further year along with Gus chasing for automatic promo. After then, who knows.

Bridge and Vicente are free agents in the summer. I would expect Bridge to move, even if we go up, he will get paid more elsewhere.
Vicente is not chasing the money but he seems likely to return to Spain to me, two years here and still needs an interpreter, suggests he has not much interest in remaining in England, let alone Brighton, could just be lazy with languages though as I expect even the Brits in the team have picked a fair bit of Spanish up by now.
Bridcutt could well move in the summer, especially if we do not look stronger.
I feel we have to try and make the most of the chance we have now, I fear we could be a weaker side next season.

Hovite says...
12:44pm Sat 16 Feb 13

Having an interpreter for a live interview is different from not understanding or speaking the language.

And to be fair to him, in his last interview, the reporter started with "congratulations Vincente"

For some daft reason, the commentary and reporting team can't even get Vicente right. A bit of an insult to him really, I don't know why they imagine an extra n in there?

Can't wait till us English speakers have to say Vitalijs Maksimenko.

We expect them to be fluent in English and we don't even know how to say their names.

Hovite I get your point about players having to settle in or adjust to our style but, Cardiff have signed at least a dozen new players this year and they are top.
I am not saying that you are wrong but maybe Cardiff got the benefit of having bought mostly players already playing in england, only a maybe.

Our players were settled enough to create a whole bunch of scoring chances, our strikers didn't finish enough of them off.

I think the truth of our season so far is a mix of, new faces and a lack of quality strikers.
Hoskins, didn't shine enough in training to force his way into the starting line up. Cms, just about made double figures in goals scored. Dobbie, just didn't fit in. Barnes, improved thru the year but too many yellows and is now a utility player.

I think Ulloa will have new strike partners next season.

VegasSeagull says...
2:31pm Sat 16 Feb 13

When the Ulloa deal was being put together I was banging on about bringing in two strikers, Ulloa and another. My thinking was thta if one of our front men got injured we would be left short.

As of today, and not including the DS players, how many fit out and out strikers can we put on the field?

Anyone.

Yes our players are in settling now, but if we had the current squad in pre-season rather than the last 24 hours left of playing time this season, we would be in a different position.

If we have a strong end to the season but miss out on promotion, it means we will be strong enough to compete for promotion from the start of next season.

If the players in the squad believe in what they are trying to achieve, and the football we are trying to play, I don't think anyone will be looking to leave just yet, including Vicente.

Please Vegas you have a brain. If he really thinks the same players are going to take us up next seasea his more stupid than he sounds most times. As you know there will be three big teams coming down again with money.Im not saying they will go straight back up but they will want to.Plus a good few other clubs will spend big in pre-season to get the same goal.Gus has made it very clear he will need to spend big if the club really wants prem-league football.Thats why he put out the story last week about give me the money of Cardiff, and the Leicesters of the world and i will deff take you up.You have a football brain Vegas,do really think Gus and his staff think the same players are going to get a different result the 3rd time around lol.Thats why Gus made the above coment last week.

I guess those in the halls of power must be very impressed by what they have seen, an instant three year deal is rare for lad of his age, an dfo rone who hasn't even visited the Amex let alone trained with the DS.

I am going to continue to bang my drum for the Liverpool lad, Krisztian Adorjan. This kid will make the first team soon and right now a million would probably get him, if they would sell that is. A striker to look out for, maybe even this season.

Google him Freeloader, and others.
