Barker wants Crawley to play the Spain way

Crawley boss Richie Barker will ask his side to play like Spain as they look to breathe new life into their fading play-off hopes tonight.

Reds have slipped to 15th in League One, 13 points off the top six, after taking just 14 points from their last 15 league games.

Crawley will look to reverse that trend when they take on fourth-placed Doncaster Rovers in front of the Sky cameras at Broadfield Stadium tonight.

Barker is a huge fan of Barcelona and the Spain national team and has Reds to emulate their style of play in a bid to topple a Doncaster side packed with physically intimidating players.

He said: “They are a massive side in terms of their size which is tough for us as we are not the biggest. I wanted to bring technically gifted players to the club but the problem with that is they are not very big.

“If you want big, strong and technically gifted players they are expensive so we have had to settle for just those who are technically gifted.

“It means we are going to have to keep the ball and move it about quickly. We need to play to our strengths and if we do that it will negate their physical advantage.”
