Reds boss still has play-off goal
10:00am Saturday 9th March 2013 in Sport By Steve Hollis
Crawley picked up another handy point against Carlisle on Tuesday
Richie Barker insists Crawley are hitting form at the perfect time to gatecrash the play-offs.
Reds go into today’s home clash with Notts County sitting 13th in the League One table, ten points behind sixth-placed Tranmere Rovers.
A return of just three points from their last four league games at the Broadfield Stadium has dented their ambitions but Barker believes they are playing well enough to make a late charge up the table.
Barker said: “While it is mathematical possibility we will give it a go. It can be done. If we were in a poor run of form then I would say it is not possible but we are in the best form of the season and the players really believe that every time they go out on the pitch that they can win.
“We won’t be letting the season fizzle out. We want to finish in the highest position we can and if that is a play-off place then happy days.
“The top half of the division is so tight that I genuinely believe it will go down to the last game of the season.
“You just need a run of three wins in a week and suddenly you are right back up there.”
