That was their final moment of hope.
Final: Barnsley 2 Albion 1
9:40pm
Albion had a hint of a chance in the four added minutes when Orlandi overlapped LuaLua but saw his cross flick off Ulloa's head and wide of the far post.
9:29pm
Barker made an early impact. He was involved in the move which led to Calderon being pushed over as he broke into the penalty area.
But Steele dived to his right to parry Ulloa's penalty.
9:26pm
Delap, already booked, walked thin ice when he tripped LuaLua just outside the box. The free-kick was worked short to LuaLua, who fired just wide of the far post.
Home boss Flitcroft recognised the danger. He took Delap off and replaced him with Hassell. At the same time, young striker Barker replaced Hammond.
9:18pm
LuaLua looked the best chance of getting Albion back on terms. He cut inside and fired a stinging right foot shot which Steele grabbed at his near post, just when it seemed to have gone past him.
Then LuaLua went outside his man and drove in a low cross which Bridcutt forced wide as he challenged with a defender.
9:16pm
DAGNALL converted the penalty.
9:15pm
Bruno limped off after charging forward to get in a cross. Crofts went on with Calderon switching to right-back and Orlandi now at left-back.
Then there was more bad news for Albion. El-Abd was adjudged to have pulled back Dagnall as they challenged for a cross to the far post. A penalty was given and El-Abd was booked, meaning a two-game ban.
9:09pm
LuaLua quickly made an impact, producing a clever touch to make space for Calderon, whose driven cross was headed in by ULLOA at the far post on 59 minutes.
9:06pm
LuaLua replaced David on minutes and Barnsley replied by sending on Dagnall for Scotland.,
9:05pm
Siuddenly Albion came to life with their first two on-target attempts of the night. David struck a volley from just outside the box which had Steele scrambling low to his left to turn it behind.
Then a ball ran loose for Orlandi inside the home box but Steele was out quickly to narrow the angle and block.
9:00pm
Attendance: 7,869 (369 away)
9:00pm
Perkins produced a decent effort from 20 yards which Kuszczak parried then gathered, moving to his left.
8:59pm
Barnsley then posed a threat with a move from a throw-in which saw O'Brien hook a cross across the ganmouth wth no one able to get on the end of it. But, notably, Albion left three men forward while that home attack was taking place.
8:57pm
Albion, now attacking the goal closest to their hardy band of supporters, wasted little time winning their first corner of the game as Ulloa's deep cross was headed behind by Delap as Hammond moved in at the far post.
That led to another flag kick when David's delivery was sliced high over his own crossbar by Etuhu. But there was no threat of a goal.
8:52pm
Second half is now in progress
8:52pm
Mellis has been decent in midfield for Barnsley. #bhafc
— @AndyNaylorArgus 12 March 2013
8:36pm
Mellis saw a 25-yard free-kick deflect wide for a corner - the first of the game - in the only minute of added time.
Half: Barnsley 1 Albion 0
8:33pm
A rare poor touch from Bruno played Upson into a bit of trouble just outside his penalty area but, when the ball fell to Mellis, Bruno was across to block his shot into the air and guide the dropping ball back to Kuszczak.
8:31pm
It was hard to fathom from where Albion's first goal in more than three-and-a-half hours of playing time was going to come.
8:29pm
The perceived sense of injustice fired up Barnsley's supporters and players alike and Upson and Calderon had to clear dangerous crosses in quick succession.
8:26pm
Barnsley fans felt they were getting a raw deal from ref Heywood. O'Grady certainly thought he was being held by Upson when a free-kick was lofted into the Albion box but play was waved on.
8:21pm
Perkins went into the book on 29 minutes for a foul on Calderon tight to the touchline.
8:20pm
Buckley, dragging wide another chance from 15 yards, appears to have left his shooting boots at home. #bhafc
— @AndyNaylorArgus 12 March 2013
8:17pm
Scotland got the better of El-Abd again as they went up for a cross beyond the far post but he could not get enough power in his header to trouble Kuszczak.
Then a fine ball over the top by Bruno sent Buckley away down the inside right channel but his right foot finish lacked conviction and bounced tamely across goal and past the far post.
8:13pm
Orlandi whipped in a cross from the left which Wiseman cleared with a diving header.
8:12pm
Barnsley sent a couple of long range efforts well off target in the minutes immediately after the goal before Albion, with David Lopez now drifting out to the right and Buckley on the left, started to get the ball down and pass again.
8:10pm
GOAL: Barnsley 1-0 #BHAFC Warren Aspinall: "A mistake by El-Abd. Let's get our heads up and go again."

Buckley chance looks more costly now. #bhafc

The muscular Jason Scotland shrugs off Adam El-Abd to slot past Kuszczak. #bhafc
— @AndyNaylorArgus 12 March 2013
8:05pm
Barnsley went ahead out of the blue when SCOTLAND muscled his way past El-Abd in the box and after O'Brien played the ball into the box and drove a low shot past Kuszczak.
8:03pm
Bruno's neat pass sent Buckley racing away down the right but he was eased off the ball by a pair of defenders.
Scotland had a go at the other end but El-Abd got in the way of his shot.
7:57pm
Buckley should have slotted #bhafc into an early lead. Golden chance went begging there.
— @AndyNaylorArgus 12 March 2013
7:55pm
Then Scotland sent a low shot wide at the other end from 20 yards.
7:53pm
Barnsley got into a very dangerous position in the first minute as Mellis burst into the area but Bruno made a timely challenge inside his own box and then retrieved possession.
Bruno made a strong start to the game. He conjured a terrific crossfield ball to release Orlandi on the left a minute later and, when the ball came across, Buckley should have done better than fire well wide from the edge of the box
7:48pm
Game is in progress. Albion defending the away end.
7:48pm
Huddle time for Barnsley. Then we'll be under way....
7:45pm
Here come the teams. Albion in their first choice strip of blue and white.
7:40pm
#bhafc fielded the same side at Bristol City last Tuesday, with exception of CMS for Ulloa.
— @AndyNaylorArgus 12 March 2013
7:39pm
The Barnsley formation remains a bit of a mystery although some locals seem to expect a return to the 3-5-2 which has served them well in the past. That's interesting because Dougie Freedman was considering a similar formation for his Bolton side but decided playing against Albion, with their lone centre-forward, was not the time to try it. Clearly Chris O'Grady and Jason Scotland will be up front.
7:26pm
Jason Scotland making 1st start for #Barnsley fc tonight. No-one can say he hasn't deserved it. Partners Chris O'Grady up front.
— @AlanBiggs1 12 March 2013
7:26pm
The captaincy has been rotating as well of late. Calde again tonight after Bridcutt Saturday and recently Bruno. #bhafc

Let's see what anyone else is saying on Twitter.
7:23pm
Hope the @OfficialBHAFC boys get a win tonight. Big game in the play off mix up. Bit of FCB for me tonight, magic if they turn it round
— @Ebenno88 12 March 2013
7:23pm
I see Elliott Bennett is keeping tabs on his former team tonight.....
7:22pm
Last week Bristol City were propping up the rest. Now Barnsley occupy 24th spot. But, as with the Reds from Ashton Gate, they are by no means adrift. A win could take Barnsley out of the bottom three tonight. This could be a battle for the Seagulls as they play their third long distance away game in eight days.

Well that's it, another dire defeat on the cards. It would appear that the Albion have no guts, no heart and no desire. Forget the play-offs, forget everything, this season is like the last, a complete write off. 25,000 plus Amex are craving for success and this is what is being dished up. I've had enough, I'm off to bed and just hope that when I wake up we have turned it around. But I don't think so.

Quite frankly gus might as well throw on the youngsters jfc and barker as nothing really left to lose in this game 1-1 not enough imho.

Such a shame, coz a win tonight and we are right back in it, loose tonight and Palace will be rubbing their hands.
We are now perhaps begining to show that we need some midfield generals for away games especially as this is where the drive to come from behind has to come from.

My season ticket is for grabs, our seats are poor value and we are looking to move up into on of the recently completed bits. If we can't get what we want then we shall come on a game to game basis. Demand will tail off next year you see.
As likely to beat Palace as I am to win the Lotto Jackpot without doing a ticket.

Ulloa misses a penalty and here come the so called albion fqns with there negative comments. He did score and his penalty was saved. A goalie guesses right and the pen taker is the villain; grow up. Win the next games and thats it. To be honest i would rather not get to the playoffs and lose as we are not quite there even with bridge and upson. There is someing missing in midfield and we never play to strikers side by side up frot, and we need to with teams like barnsley. 2014 will be iur season.
