LuaLua targets derby victory

Kazenga LuaLua believes Albion owe their fans derby joy after a tough week on the road.
The Seagulls return home to face old foes Crystal Palace on the back of three tough away games which have brought only one point.
LuaLua has put himself in the frame for action against the Eagles on Sunday thanks to an impressive performance off the bench in the 2-1 defeat at Barnsley last night.
He would love to help re-ignite the play-off push by beating Palace.
The winger said: “It’s a massive game for the fans and the club, all the players as well.
“We lost tonight and on Sunday we have got to win the game.
“It won’t be easy but hopefully we’ll be on the winning side.
“It will nice to be back at The Amex. They have been three frustrating games away from home.”
LuaLua would love to be involved to give new impetus to a stop-start season on a personal level.
He admitted: “I can only hope. The season has been frustrating for me, not playing as many minutes as I would like to play.
“We have had a few injuries. I just hope to play more minutes. I can only try my best.”

I'm afraid to say that history is repeating itself. Exactly the same thing happened last year. Not a single win in the last 10 games last season which cost at least a play off place. That pattern has started again losing the last two followed by certain defeat on Sunday. I said it last season and I'll say it again. Poyet needs to go a.s.a.p. For the second year running he is going to cost Brighton a good end to the season and a certain mid table finish.
Same old, same old, same old boring and predictable rubbish.

Cheer up,Major, this is a great Division to be in, far better than we knew before. Better than getting thrashed every week in a higher one. (Yes, I know we all want a shot at that though.)
The problem is that Gus is a victim of his own success. He has done really well but we all get frustrated because we think it could all have been so much better if he altered his way of thinking sometimes. That's the conundrum, the enigma that he is if you like.
Look at it this way, if we had never had him, we probably would not be where we are now. Remember, he has transformed the club and its contacts.
Actually, I think Gus would be better in the Premiership where players would have more ability to play as he wants. However, for now he will drive a lot of us crazy with his tactics and team selection but we have to balance that with what we have. Rough/smooth etc.

HPR first pitched up last year with ten or so games to go forecasting our demise
and lo and behold here he/she is again
We still can do it and I won´t be giving up until the maths tell me otherwise
Two wingers on Sunday and we will win 3-1
Deluded maybe but loyal forever
Fans support needed more than ever now in what is arguably our biggest game ever against Palace

I've no doubt in my mind that Gus has had a very big part to play in making us the club we are today.
He has us playing the most attractive football I have ever witnessed whilst supporting our club and I think he can also take massive credit for attracting the likes of Vicente, Upson and Bridge to the Amex.
Having said all of this though, for me there is only 1 guy who we could not do without and that for me is our kingpin... A certain Mr Tony Bloom.
Our journey would certainly have been a different one without our current manager but for me and sorry to repeat myself but there is only 1 man that fits my idea of "legend" status.
Here's to many years with Tony at the helm.

I do think that since Hoskins got injured followed by CMS, Ulloa settling in and others with niggling injuries, followed by three away games in 8 days and to top it with the Barnes incident, it is hardly a managers dream scenario.
For what it's worth the team worked hard against Bolton and deserved better, and should have got a result against Barnsley.
I would much prefer losing with a good performance than losing on a bad one. The main thing we have got is the ability to play the game and the only thing missing are the results.

You've set me off now :)
I find myself sat here wondering how different things would be if Mr Blooms initial managerial target had taken the reigns instead of Gus.
I do of course refer to Steve Coppell.
He was a great manager for us and is still spoken of very highly by all that know and worked with him.
I think he is very different to Gus and the last few years would most certainly have looked a little different.
Do I think we would be where we are now with Steve at the helm though?
I do actually, yes...
Gus has done and will hopefully continue to do a great job for us. I just think that Mr Coppell might have been as successful.
Sorry to bore you all but this is a place to spout off ;)

This is not saying that Coppell couldn't have installed this mentality into the club, but someone had to come in a go back to basics.
Brendon Rogers did a great job teaching the passing game at Swansea and this made it easy for Michael Laudrup to step in and continue with added magic, and they are probably playing the most exciting football in the Prem.
What we are doing now is important for the future whoever is the manager.

Even when KLL came on and WB moved into the middle with Ulloa and we drew level we still could not hold on and get a point. I just don't know the answer.

Draw with Bristol City, very disappointing.
Defeat at Bolton, very unlucky. Balance of play suggested a draw. We dominated possession including in their half of the field, but couldn't create enough clear-cut chances. However, Crofts was very unlucky with an excellent shot well saved in the first half followed by the striking of the post. In the second half we went very close through Spanish Dave and Ulloa (yes he did have attempts on goal despite dubious stats to the contrary).
Ref Nigel Millar was a joke, as he always is. Gave no protection to us even when we had players hauled to the ground, studded slyly down the back of the legs and when Barnes was floored by a heavy shove to the side of his face in the penalty area a few mins before his red card.
Knew Millar would screw us over as usual. Just surprised it took so lon for someone (guess who?!!) to crack.
Barnsley, sounded as If we played fairly poorly, although it also sounded like a draw would've been the right result. Their penalty was an absolute joke. Saw the footage on sky sports news and it looked utterly comical. Annoying that they managed to capitalise from that unjustified penalty and yet we failed from our more justified one! Such is life.
And so to Palace. We are overdue some luck again, and I think the time is just perfect for Sunday. I think we're going to win. Kings for the day are likely to be a refreshed Vicente, Kaz (who seemed to make quite a difference on Tuesday night when he came on) and Buckley, who I think is starting to get his match sharpness.
I expect to be drinking a number of celebratory Guinnesses after the match (plus a few Harvey's for good measure, of course!).

But truth be told before last three games and for long periods in win over Huddersfield we were not playing as well as the first half of the season.
I was hoping am still am that we can stay in touch for a play off spot and hit form 5 games from the end thus being on song for the play offs.
That said all the injuries and suspensions I think have lessened our chances considerably and that is the disappointing thing for all, team Gus and fans.
But we are not going down, yes personnel will change a bit next year ,but as much as it might be sad to lose a few who knows who we might gain.

He has greatly improved us both as a club and the team since his arrival and particularly with regard to our status within the football structure, but I do think that there is one element with which he struggles and that is in having his team deal successfully with the physical nature of some teams in this division. We often don't seem to have an answer for it as appeared to be the case at Bolton. Nigel Miller doing his job would have helped of course, but nonetheless we could counteract this better than we do.
I certainly agree with your notion that our style of football would better suit the Premier League. I have often cited Swansea as a very good example for what we are trying to do (I'm sure Tony B is deliberately replicating that model for success)...pass our way out of League One, establish and gradually improve ourselves in The Championship, culminating in a promotion via the play-offs.
When we finally do make The Prem - and we will! - we can look to Swansea again to see how much at home their style suits to that division. They haven't exactly struggled since they have been there, have they?!
