Albion have signed a record deal with American Express to be their new shirt sponsor from next season.

The Seagulls are not revealing what the multi-year agreement is worth but chief executive Paul Barber has described it as the biggest in the club’s history.

The new kit for 2013-14 will be unveiled later today and will include the American Express logo on the front and back of the first team’s Errea-manufactured shirt.

The American Express brand will also be seen on the club’s development, youth and women’s team shirts.

Barber said: “American Express has proven to be a fantastic partner as our stadium naming rights holder and key partner of our charitable arm, Albion in the Community. To see one of the world’s biggest and most respected companies extend its relationship with us in this way, cementing its position as the club’s main sponsor, is fantastic news for us.

“This is a significant deal for the club and the biggest in our history. We are extremely grateful to American Express for its continued support.

“I would like to thank them for the invaluable expertise, assistance and advice they have provided to our club since the stadium opened, something that only a truly global brand can offer.”

American Express vice president Mark Roper said: “This is a natural extension of our successful partnerships with the American Express Community Stadium and Albion in the Community charity.

“This new deal further underscores our long-term commitment to the communities of Sussex and surrounding area. We are excited about the future and look forward to supporting the local team as they go from strength to strength.”

The newly-designed kit for 2013-14 will go on sale to fans this summer, although they will be able to pre-order from the club today.

It sounds like a good deal for the club, It's a shame they are sticking with Errea. It means the quality will remain poor and over priced.

Great news, and surely further indication of the commitment to Prem Lg footie, if not this year then next.

Yes, Amex wouldn't really want to invest their massive brand in anything not likely to be at the highest level. We just need a manager who can get us there. (Which of course could well be Gus...)

Fantastic news. Really like being associated with Amex. A great company with strong roots in football tradition. Also chance for the club to get more revenue by selling all those new design shirts.

Very good news, the former shirt sponsor are about to announce the county cricket ground as the jobs site something or other, with this additional funds and the ticket price increase, I really hope the club sign three quality players that will get us out of this division, third season will be tough to get cash out of the 12000 fans who have appeared over night so to speak.

Whatever happens on the field, this is clearly a step forward off the field. I'm guessing the financial reward from American Express is linked to what division we are playing in, but regardless of that, is still the biggest in our history, which is fantastic.

Errea are no worse than anyone else, and ALL official shirt are massively over-priced (the only reason I have never bought one).

So, the Albion have signed a record deal? Well, if we can't top the table, maybe we can top the charts?

Perhaps improves or encourages the possibility that the club might stretch a bit on the wages front to secure a 'top' player on a loan deal till just the end of the season?

Just wish they would sign a goalscroring foreward.

Do you mean "another goal-scoring forward"?

Shame Amex are cutting jobs in Brighton. Will be hard to swallow for some staff there.

Sounds another step in the right direction and although these things always have ethical considerations it sounds more exciting than the Overline Telecom one.

Excellent sponsorship deal with world wide known company. One of the biggest earners for clubs in the premiership is they can attract major sponsors (such as JVC,Sanyo,Santander,
Apple etc, this has now been achieved by the club whilst still in the Championship- with the academy 16 mhs away Premiership is a must within next 2 years.
Unfortunately we just are not good enough this season and I can see about 8 players moving on.
It wil be interesting what the final season ticket holders numbers are ,currently its 22000 plus.

Errea have one more year on their contract so there will be another set of new shirts for the 2014/2015 season

Great news for the Albion and a really positve sign moving forward. Shame to see no reference made for the support of the previous shirt sponsor or even named??
