Poyet: This was one to savour

David celebrates his goal today David celebrates his goal today

Gus Poyet has admitted he will savour Albion's 3-0 derby day success to the full.

The Seagulls beat Crystal Palace for the first time since 2005 before a record crowd at The Amex today.

It was their fourth derby under Poyet's management.

The Albion manager admitted: "This is a day to stop time and stay here forever. I'd like to finish a season like this."

He added: "If you need to leave, your last game at the football club, this is the perfect way to leave and to finish a career.

"After the day we went up, because that was unique, this is the best day (as Albion manager) no doubt by far."

"As soon as you get in this football club you know one thing, you need to beat Palace. And it's my first victory so I'm going to enjoy it, that's for sure."

Fantastic afternoon. Perfect team selection by the manager. At last dispelling the notion that we can't take risks with an all attacking line up. No tinkering needed with the team for away game at Forest - unchanged please.

Yes Gus just back from the game (stayed behind to savor the moment) great to see the stripey nigels slinking away before the end thoroughly chastened. What a performance from your boys Gus, they were superb and hardly gave the caravan dwellers a kick,Thanks to all the players and staff we can hold our heads high at least until we maybe meet them in the playoffs.
Thanks again Gus brilliant day.SEAGULLS

It's on days like these that I so wish I was still living in Sussex-by-the-Sea rather than exiled in the US. At least I got to see the goals on Sky...and what a cracker that was from Spanish Dave!

As many people have posted, Gus was rewarded today by starting with such a positive formation. Attack is often the best form of defence.

Let's hope that we can find a loan striker before the Forest game because if Leonardo gets hurt, we're going to be relying on the DS kids.

Happy St. Paddy's day my fellow Albion fans!

As I said before , so much more to come from ulloa, still not fully match fit, or used to playing here.. He is the 20 goal a season player we need , plus the plan b option, this guy is going to be on the wanted list of a lot of premiership clubs, villa scout at the Amex apparently? Must have been impressed with ulloa and bridge.
Thought GG and upson looked excellent today.

Too true. Lets go all out at Forest for a win. We have the ability to turn these sides over if we go for it.Can't help thinking where we would be now if Ulloa had been with us from the start.A true center forward.Mobile, powerful, reads the game well and above all can finish.

Crystal Palarse had their bottoms well and truly spanked today. They were given a footballing lesson. Sent back to the hole that is South London. What do they expect when they support a joke of a team that is Crystal Palarse?

Great day, excellent result and brilliant crowd support. For once I was really excited and very pleased for Gus. Luckily some other results went well for us yesterday so the play offs are still wthin reach. The positive play and commitment from the players, in particular Lua Lua who I have never seen tackle so deep into our half and then ran them ragged on the wing, was a joy to behold. UTA

All week I've been reading the 'regular' moaners on here, vegas, MBTS etc and they were all banging on about Murray (7 goals last season!) and slagging Poyet. Funny how quiet they are when we win. True fans? No, we read their cr*p and laugh, we have been supporters our whole lives and know

Am I reading to much into this? (No pun intended with Reading looking for a manager and Gus being linked to it)

nah! Cant see it man. Now wud be a perfect time for a palarse slump and an Albion surge. We can go thru the play offs like a dose of salts straight to auto places whilst they slip off to 7th :) Before we get any comments, its just wishful thinking :)

The bit finish a career could be the clue as to it being a player rather than Gus and with Reading looking like being Relegated what would Gus achieve especially with the new owner showing how ruthless he is just like Abramovich.Whoever it was that got Gus here and I don't mean TB will be forever in our debt whatever the future brings

According to Five Live, Gus rejected any link with Reading. Doesn't really seem like a promotion for him anyway - they have massively over-achieved to get where they are and arguably have a poorer side than Brighton. Have a strong suspicion Gus will leave in the summer if a bigger club comes in for him. If that happens, good luck to him. He has an outstanding and charismatic manager for the club from day one and will be very difficult to replace. Ironically the team selection today owed much to the fact that Palace play with two wingers and he wanted two flyers to chase back as well as race forward. Perfect day for Kaz today once the game became open - once he gets one-on-one with the right back he can become unplayable. Just loses his way against more defensively organised teams. A great day apart from the soaking afterwards and Gus's comments are spot on today.

What a great result, this result will push us on now for a play off place.
Well done Gus for the attacking line up and well played to the lads you were awsome naming just a few outstanding performances Bridge, Lualua, Upson, Bridcutt, Buckley & Ulloa.
The crowd also made the atmosphere today and what a crowd 28,449.
Also well done to the rest of the staff who played a part today. Come on the Albion!!!!

Why on earth do you think Gus would even consider going to Reading ? What do they have to offer that we dont . Nothing. At the least , we will be in the same division next year ...and at the most we will be one league higher . Why waste text on this nonsense. Gus's total understanding of English still lets him down!
Now.....if it was Swansea??..then i would be worried !
If Laudrup leaves for Madrid ....maybe!
( I know that Laudrup has just signed a new contract...but im sure Madrid would pay that off with no trouble).. Anyway its all hypothetical. Lets stop reading too much into everything that Gus says !!

Shades of Bill Shankly here! Football is a matter of life and death. No! Actually it's more important than that!

Hello St Peter. It's Gus here with the perfect qualification for heaven - we just exterminated the devil - Palarse 3-0 it was something worth dying for!!!

Come in Gus, you're very welcome! The first person to defeat those devils since St Michael the Archangel threw them out of heaven a few milleniums ago!

Just for the record I referred to a "bigger" club, not a "big" club. There is a significant difference. Gus is an ambitious man as outlined by several interviews since he has been at the club. He has also been at the club 31/2 years which is significantly higher than the average for a Championship manager especially for one who is still on an upward progression in terms of his career. Gus has done an outstanding job at Brighton and is very media friendly. Some very knowledgeable figures in the game are very happy to tout his name around in connection with Premiership management jobs. Hopefully Gus will be with us for a good while yet but think it is important that the club does succession plan.

Well 24 hrs and umpteen Harveys later, and I still feel like the cat who got the cream. Thanks Gus and the boys, you gave us a much needed win against the Nigels, which in turn gave me a birthday to remember. What a day.
