Albion are on course for record-busting season ticket sales at The Amex, even if they miss out on promotion.

Ninety-five per cent of season tickets holders have already renewed for 2013-14, with the Seagulls still battling to go up from the Championship into the Premier League.

Demand to watch Gus Poyet’s side continues to soar, despite the club announcing a modest rise in prices earlier this year.

Albion have 22,000 season ticket holders in the current campaign. The club expect that figure to be comfortably eclipsed, with 1,000 people on the waiting list.

They are bracing themselves for a rush once season tickets go on general sale at next Saturday’s home game against Blackpool straight after the final whistle.

Chief executive Paul Barber said, “It is great to see that the demand for season tickets at the Amex continues to grow at a rapid pace. It’s a phenomenal achievement for the club.

“It’s down to a number of factors. Our style of play and the performances of the team are of course the key reasons, but also the whole Amex experience is proving to be a great day out and leaves our fans wanting more.

“Also, we have made it as easy as possible for fans to buy season tickets. Our interest-free direct debit facility allows fans to spread the cost of their season ticket over 12 months, while the season ticket remains tremendous value for money when you factor in the cost of travel which is fully included in the price for the majority of our fans. Regardless, the loyalty and faith is simply fantastic.”

The recently expanded capacity at the stadium has risen to 30,750. Albion are likely to cap season ticket sales at under 26,000 to make allowances for away supporters and fans unable or unwilling to commit to every match.

Barber added: “We are absolutely delighted with the number of season ticket holders we have at the moment - and of course we want as many as possible.

“But we also need to keep some seats available on a match-to-match basis so that fans who cannot commit to all or the majority of our home games still have the opportunity to come and see their team - and we can continue to attract new fans to the Albion.”
