TWO men have been detained after an armed robbery at a Bury club during which the landlord was injured.
Police were called to the Salisbury Conservative Club on Badger Street at 10.25pm on Tuesday (April 23) after the thugs, armed with a silver handgun, had entered the premises and threatened the landlord. He was pistol-whipped and suffered a head injury before the raiders fled empty handed.
A dog patrol was deployed and two men were arrested on suspicion of robbery at a nearby block of flats. What is believed to be a blank firing handgun was recovered nearby and is to undergo forensic examination. The men remain in police custody for questioning.
