Adams nets cracker in Reds defeat
Nicky Adams scored the goal of the game as Crawley Town lost 2-1 at home to Ipswich Town at the Broadfield Stadium tonight.
Manager Richard Barker will have taken plenty of positives from the clash with Mick McCarthy’s Championship side in front of a crowd of 1,029.
Ipswich went ahead in the ninth minute when Paul Anderson dinked the ball over two defenders and a patient Daryl Murphy waited for it to drop before slotting home.
David McGoldrick, part of a completely different Ipswich side for the second half, doubled the lead from the penalty spot on 53 minutes after being brought down by Paul Jones.
Adams powered through midfield to unleash a 25 yarder into the keeper’s right-hand corner ten minutes later.
Lively youngster Jordan Adekunle almost forced an equaliser eight minutes from time when his teasing cross was touched on to a post and behind for a corner.
Barker took the opportunity to give 21 players a run-out including a second start for right-back James Stinson, who is on trial after leaving Sunderland.
