Reds must pace themselves
Richie Barker insists Crawley need to pace themselves as they build up to the League One opener at home to Coventry.
The Reds have five members of their small squad carrying knocks as they step up preparations with games at Whitehawk tomorrow and Burgess Hill on Saturday.
The pre-season programme also includes matches with Albion next Wednesday and Crystal Palace on Saturday July 27.
Andy Drury, James Hurst, Josh Simpson, Joe Walsh and Jonte Smith all have minor injuries.
Barker said: “The aim is to go into the first week of the season with as many fit players as possible. Part of that has to be about getting 90 minutes under their belt which will be predominantly based around the Crystal Palace and Brighton games.
“We need to make sure it is a steady progress and a steady build-up and if we do that hopefully we can limit the injuries.
“Quite a few of the pros will play (at Whitehawk), not all of them but people will work out once they see what the squad is what we are trying to do.”
Crawley’s away game with Coventry has been switched to Sunday January 12.
