Barker hails 'fantastic' Crawley
Boss Richie Barker hailed his Crawley players after two goals from Gary Alexander secured a famous victory at Peterborough United.
Alexander struck in each half as Reds claimed a thoroughly deserved success over a Posh side bidding for a record seventh straight win this season.
Peterborough had scored 23 goals in their previous six games but could find no way through a Crawley defence even after Reds were reduced to ten men late on following the dismissal of Mike Jones.
Barker said: "People will look at the score and think it was a good result but I would say it is even better than it looks because Peterborough have been in such good form this season.
"Peterborough were fantastic against Reading on Tuesday when I watched them so we knew it wouldn't be easy but I don't think anybody who was here would say we didn't deserve to win the game.
"We had a gameplan which we worked on in training during the week but the players have still got to go out there and carry it out and they did it superbly.
"I don't think many teams will come here and keep a clean sheet this season so to stop two £1million strikers who are probably the best in the division was an immense effort."
The only downside was the dismissal of Jones who will now be suspended for the home game against Gillingham next week.
The midfielder was booked for a foul in the first half and recieved a second yellow card for kicking the ball away in the 87th minute.
Barker added: "It was a bit silly. I don't think the first one was a yellow card but you always run the risk after that.
"I also think the referee needs to give players a bit more benefit of the doubt because he only kicked it away about half a second after the whistle had blown."
