Borough boss: We'll get goals
Eastbourne Borough boss Tommy Widdrington insists he has faith in his squad to score goals.
Sports have netted just six goals in seven Conference south games so far this season.
Four of those goals have come from midfielders and one from winger Elliott Levy.
Widdrington would love to have the funds to bring in a proven goalscorer but he believes he has enough ability within the squad to start finding the net on a regular basis.
He said: “I think there are goals in this team. Simon Johnson has started the season on fire, Darren Lok just needs one to go in off his backside and Gary Hart is having chances.
“Chris Shephard is another. He has scored one but he could have had three or four.
“I am willing to back this team to score goals. If we go a longer period not scoring then I may have to look outside the dressing room but for now I have to believe in them.”
Widdrington’s options have been boosted by the return to fitness of striker Tony Garrod, who has yet to feature since signing in the summer.
Garrod was on the bench for Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat away to leaders Eastleigh and hopes to be pushing for a place soon.
