Adams told there's no job at Sussex
Sussex have confirmed Chris Adams will not be offered a coaching role next season.
Adams revealed in The Argus two weeks ago that he was keen to return to county cricket after being sacked as team director by Surrey.
The 43-year-old, who skippered Sussex to three Championship titles as captain and still lives in the county, admitted a return to Hove was his preferred option but has been told there are no vacancies for him.
Chief executive Zac Toumazi said: “I have spoken to Chris. He is a Sussex man and I told him he will always be welcome here but we don’t have a job for him at present.
“We’ve got a finite budget so there is only so much we can and can’t do. It is no reflection on his talent as a coach but we have got to look at what we can afford.
“In my opinion we have already got the best coaching staff in the country in Mark Robinson and the rest of his coaching team so there are no openings.”
