Crawley have cut short Luke Rooney's disappointing loan spell early with the winger returning to Swindon Town.

Rooney made just five substitute appearances for Reds after joining on a temporary basis in August.

The 22-year-old was due to remain at the Checkatrade.com Stadium until January 1 but boss Richie Barker confirmed in his programme notes for tonight's game against Swindon that he had returned to the Robins early.

Barker said: "It's disappointing that it didn't work out for Luke here and after talking to him we decided the best course of action was for him to go back to his parent club and we wish him well for the future."
