Albion’s under-21s have been told to take Arundel seriously tonight.

And their coach has already set the example by going to watch them play in the County League.

Simon Ireland was present as the Mullets lost 2-1 at Hassocks on Saturday having led.

Their next assignment is against Albion’s development squad, who are the holders, in a Sussex Senior Cup tie at Lancing tonight (7.45pm).

Ireland said: “Oscar (Garcia) and the first team staff have a culture whereby there is a level of expectation every time they pull on a Brighton shirt.

“We compete the best we can in every game.

“We will be professional and go about it in the right way.

“I went to watch Arundel and showed them that respect. We know they will work hard.”

Courtney Richards, Shamir Goodwin and George Barker, all of whom are out on loan, are not involved for the Seagulls.

But Solly March, who could also be set for a stint away from The Amex, is named in Ireland’s starting XI.

Albion season ticket holders are reminded there is no free admission tonight. Entry is by cash at the turnstiles and priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

Albion under-21s: Smith; Maksimenko, Rea, Dallinson, Chicksen; Asmundsson, March, Harris, Hunt; Dickensen, Deen.
