John Gregory has set his sights on leading Crawley Town to promotion to the Championship after being unveiled as the club's new manager.

Gregory was installed on an 18-month contract this morning and will take charge of his first game at Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Crawley are currently nine points outside the play-offs in 15th place in League One and 21 points adrift of the automatic promotion places.

Despite that Gregory insists his aim is to lead Crawley to the Championship this season.

Gregory said: "This club has come a long way in a short space of time but it doesn't want to stand still. We are not happy just to get into League One so my vision is to look up.

"The Championship is not beyond us and when I sat down with the board and listened to what they had to say it was pleasing to hear the club is ambitious as I am.

"The play offs are not beyond us. The play-offs are a minimum. Getting in the top two for automatic promotion is not beyond us. That is our ultimate aim."
