Oscar gets right blend

Albion boss Oscar Garcia has praised the defensive midfield partnership which helped knock leaders Leicester off the top of the Championship.

Former Chelsea pair Liam Bridcutt and Rohan Ince started together for the first time in the 3-1 victory over the Foxes at The Amex, with Andrew Crofts pushed further forward.

Oscar told The Argus: "I think they (Bridcutt and Ince) can play together. All good players can play together. It's up to the manager to try to find the best position for them.

"Rohan is young but when we are watching him he seems an experienced player. He has to improve a lot of things but he wants to do it and this for me is the most important thing.

"At the start of the season Rohan was a central defender but I think he can exploit his abilities more in midfield."

Oscar confirmed Gordon Greer went off with a calf problem and Will Buckley missed out with an ankle injury.

Tomasz Kuszczak missed the match with a stomach muscle strain sustained in the warm-up.

For me, our most complete performance under Oscar - Ince AND Bridders have to start, Spanish Dave showed glimpses of why we loved him last season, including a sublime pass for the first goal, Adam was immense when he came on, and Bruno had his best game for ages. After Tuesday's performance this was a real turnaround against a very good Leicester side. When they were able to introduce Knockaert, Wood and Taylor-Fletcher, I feared for us, but we were strong, rode out the storm and earned a deserved win. Credit the management, the players and the fans, who were great today.

With Ince and Bridders being discussed on the last thread, I'd like to ask opinion on Lita.

With his loan spell up in the next month and his limited game time while with us... Do many think he will stay on?
Obviously Leo is back soon and CMS seems to be making progress, albeit very slowly. Hoskins not due this season.
In my mind we need a 4th striker and when Leroy signed on loan, Mr Bloom said the only business he would look to do in January was to make Lita permanent.

Just wondered what everyone thinks? In my mind I don't think LL will want to stay.

The balance of the team did look good today. Ince and Bridcutt were very solid and apart from 5 or 10 minutes after their goal, we didn't look as if we would concede. To do that after losing Kuszczak at the last minute and then Greer was brilliant. Lopex at last looked like the player we enjoyed last season, and even Bruno looked to be back to his best. The injuries are still giving us big problems, but on a more positive note, Kaz looked like he had never been away when he came on late in the game.

lets hope tk is gonna be ok next week. I think boro are there for the taking its such a shame we didnt perform against the "lesser" teams we would be 5 points off the top. still barnes was mightily impresive today along with ince who has been a great find.

I'm thinking og will need to play 2 up when ulloas fit and then wgho do you drop hehe decisions decisions

If Oscar wanted to keep him, he would be giving him game time. I just don't think he is Oscar's type of player, but we had to get somebody in for cover with all our other injuries.

Good comments Oscar. Not so good Jamie Redknap mentioning Gus needing Liam !!!! .
Thought our defense benefited from Adam today think his passion is great for the team. he may no be the quickest but think Gordon could do with a break in the nicest possible way.
would love to see Solly March join jfc and Ince with game time this season.
Kaz back also a bonus.

Can't see Oscar playing two up front. It will be Ulloa with Barnes dropping back to his attacking midfield role, if he gets in the starting line up. I think it may depend on whether Conway stays after his loan spell. He has been impressive in the last few games and I would put him ahead of Barnes in the supporting role for Ulloa. ..... and then there is CMS. If we ever get everyone fit, our bench is going to look very strong.

Its not worth keeping Lita if we do not give him the opportunity to shine, its beginning to look as he was not the sort of player that Oscar wants.
Considering the two injuries we suffered it was a very good performance to defeat the league leaders, a pity we did not play the same way against Bournemouth and Barnsley.

Further proof that signing players has been taken out of Oscars hands.

He really is the head coach.

No suprise all the signings since Gus left have been either poor or very average.

Why has Tony left a burk in charge of the purse strings?

Please remember this for future games Oscar. Gus was often determined to show even clever he was by rapidly stopping something that clearly worked - sometimes if worked, sometimes it didn't. Most of us will be very happy to see both Liam and Rohan start and for Rohan to continue to develop and progress. It was very effective against what had been the best side in the league up till 3.00 today!!

Like OG's comment that the best players can play together. I have wondered why others have got in ahead of Ince sometimes as he has definitely been the find of the season. Would like to see a steady central midfield triangle of Ince, Bridcutt and Augestien. Then mix and match the other midfielders/wingers around them.

Love the idea of your midfield triangle Eddy. I'm pretty sure that those 3 would form a formidable understanding.

Add 2 classy wingers from hopefully 4 (Conway to sign) and a striker of class and we might just have a real push at the autos.

thanks SMF, we will have quite a few players to choose from when and if they are all fit. I loved Ince and Bridcutt together today with Bridcutt almost an extra defender and Ince even pushing on to have a couple of efforts on goal. But I would still like to see a creative midfielder with passing range (it could be Ince, maybe Orlandi, but Augestein looks like he may be ready). Then on the sides you can have any of Buckley, David, Lua Lua, Orlandi, Conway, or even Barnes or Lita. That leaves Crofts, Andrews & JFC in central midfield reserve.

A five man midfield would leave only 1 up front which I'm not too keen on but if the midfielders and wingers can chip in with goals it may work. That would obviously be Ulloa which is a shame for Lita who I would like to have seen something of.

I have been advocating playing ince and bridcutt, to gether for a while, yesterday we saw the result, and both players pushed forward in turn, and with ince, he turns a defensive postion, instantly into a offensive move with such speed, which his biggest attribute,i dont think the crowd has been that excited at one of our matches for a while,i hope oscar continues with those two together just tweeking as necessary, add lua, ulloa cms, orlandi to mix and we would be a very strng team.... keep it up oscar..PLEASE dont let players go.. OR CROWDS WILL DWINDLE...most people like to follow a winning team in whatever division.....
