Conway: Pass was perfect

The Argus: Craig Conway scores Craig Conway scores

Craig Conway has praised the pass which set up his first goal for Albion.

But he admitted he feared David Lopez had left it too late to play the killer ball.

Conway scored the second goal as the Seagulls beat leaders Leicester 3-1.

David took his time while fans demanded he send the ball forward quickly for Conway or Ashley Barnes.

Instead, he picked his moment perfectly and sent Conway in on goal.

Conway said: “It was almost slow motion.

“I thought he had left it too late but he timed it perfectly.

“It’s a great ball, it kind of hit my shoulder inside and it bounced pretty well for me to hit first time.

“I saw the keeper coming out and I knew where I was putting it straight away.”

Conway was delighted to help Albion bounce back from defeat by Barnsley.

He added: “Getting the first goal (by Ashley Barnes) pretty early really helped us and I thought after that there was a 20 or 25-minute spell when we were outstasnding.

“After the disappointing Tuesday, when we played poorly, it was good to bounce back straight away and get three points.”

Prince Charming made a pass at me last night after our result. He thinks we'll get into Europe at the way I have turned things around. Have to say, Lopez has finally woken up. He put it on a plate for Conway and Barnes. Wish we had that sort of quality in our line up.

If we continue to play like yesterday and remain consistent then with good players ready to return from injury and an already strong bench the rotation will be key. This does upset the opposition and our players are all individual and bring different qualities to the game. How many teams wpuld love to pick out of several wingers knowing they can change them at different times. What I like is that the midield are getting forward and if they do then it has to be 1 up front unless chasing the game. Has to be Ulloa for me with Barnes and CMS to replace i when needed. We could only play with 1 winger sometimes and then 2 forwards. A grest hedache for the rest of the season and we do have cover for injuries. As long as we keep Bridders Ince and Conway then I am happy

Possibly, but it is how I try to get my players to disguise them as well?

Great all round performance yesterday. As I said earlier Sod's law was in action having lost to the bottom and beaten the top team all within 5 days. Fantastic response and every player deserved MoM. Very impressed with Peter Brezovan. It couldn't have been easy coming in at such short notice. Very accomplished performance. Good to see Adam back on the pitch. I'm a big fan of our skipper but he may have trouble getting back in if Adam keeps playing like that. It is clear Oscar wants all players to slot in when needed and it was a seamless transition for these two unexpected appearances. The work being done on the training pitch is bringing it's rewards(Barnsley excepted).UTA

The performance level of every Brighton player yesterday was high, and in a few cases very high. Brez between the sticks had an excellent game, his decision making was spot on and this from a player who has been a spectator for so long. El-Abd, another guy with little playing time under his belt, looked like a player who has never been out of the side, he impressed.
Bruno and David both performed at a level we haven't seen from them this season, and I think there was more to David's game than just the two pin point passes.
The Bridcutt - Ince partnership worked well, I thought it would be Ince that pushed further forward but more often than not it was Bridders, good to see that Bridcutt had the confidence to do this knowing that Ince would stay at home.

Very impressive yesterday Vegas, made even more so after watching Tuesday nights game, Ince and Bridcutt if we can keep BOTH will be the best pairing in this league and will also hold their own in the prem!
Was very pleased for Brez who as you say has been very professional watching from the stands and did himself and the team proud.
Lopez, I like most was disapointed to see his name on the team sheet before the start, but he finally had a good game and if he can repeat this over the next couple of games all will be forgotten (1 good game out of the season so far is not enough)
I think Lita might still feature in the team and along with Conway both might get an extension to their loan periods, (Lita as 3/4 choice striker). I would like to think we can keep every one in January with the likes of Ulloa and Bridcutt seeing enough in the Albion that their prem chance will come with us and not with the likes of Sunderland or palarse. Next match for me due to holiday (made all the more enjoyable after yesterday's win) is Charlton on Boxing Day, so next couple of games will be via the internet like yourself Vegas. UTA

Much as I love Will, my reading of the tealeaves is that he is in danger of becoming the third choice wide man - something I would not have anticipated when he first shone for the Albion. I'm afraid the combination of recurring injuries and inconsistency when he does appear, has dented my erstwhile view that he had the potential to be one of our most exciting players ever.
I posted last night my admiration for Conway's performance. Oscar is clearly impressed with LuaLua and quite rightly so. Our former manager failed to bring the best out of him. I think many of us cannot wait to see him in full flow again. My hope is that Will can sort his fitness problems and respond to the challenge that Conway and LuaLua now pose.

Was there anything that could have been improved on? On the pitch perhaps not (apart from the marking for Leicesters goal) How about that postage stamp of a flag being passed over the heads of the crowd I saw on the highlights? Now that was tin pot and that's something I know a thing or two about working for this lot.

A lot of great comments on this thread deliberating who the first choice wingers would be when when everyone is fit and if we signed Conway again.

For me I'd have all 3 on the pitch... Buclkley on the right wing and Conway on the left.
Lua Lua I think would be massively effective in the role that Crofts played yesterday... Bridders and Ince did a lot of the donkey work while Crofts was given licence to get the ball and drive forward.
Don't get me wrong Crofts yesterday did a great job and looked good... I just imho think that Kaz might take that position to the next level.
The thought of Buckley and Conway flying down the wings while Lua Lua drives down the middle of the park with the safety net of Bridders and Ince as security is mouth watering.
With Leo sat at top, I would suggest that we would have the most potent attacking force in the championship.

I'm sure this won't happen but what a happy fan I'd be if it did.

Bench would look fantastic with Orlandi, Kemy, Barnes and CMS all able to change the game if called upon.

Make it happen please Santa :)

When we didn't have Ulloa I often wondered whether Barnes up front with Kaz playing as you suggest would work, I don't think I will ever find out.
On current form, and when Ulloa is ready, I would have to go with Barnes in the Kaz role that you are talking of. Barnes is displaying what seems to be an endless amount of energy, something I am not sure that Kaz has. I also think that Barnes can take the knocks better than Kaz, he took more than a few yesterday.

Believe it or not we are in a better position than this time last season with fitness and most definitely playing style.Oscar Garcia has a winning mentality and the players are showing signs of his attacking policies. Ince is being molded into a ball winner and has a good footballing brain for such a young player with a great vision of play for defending and attacking options, with Bridders this will be our interchangeable midfield power house.Oscar is bringing young players on and has NO prima donnas in his side. Attitude is win Next Game with players available.
