Barnes hopes loan star returns

The Argus: Craig Conway Craig Conway

Ashley Barnes has revealed he would love to welcome back Albion’s outgoing loan star.

Craig Conway plays the final game of three-month stint with the Seagulls at Middlesbrough on Saturday before heading back to parent club Cardiff.

Assistant head coach Nathan Jones yesterday hinted the Scottish flyer could be back in January.

And Barnes would welcome such a move.

Albion’s in-form striker said: “Craig is a fantastic player.

“He has got great quality. He was at Cardiff and they didn’t sign him for no reason.

“They got promoted and he was a big part of that last season.

“It would be great if he could stay but obviously it’s about what he wants and what the clubs want.”

Conway has improved game by game in his three months with the Seagulls and is unlikely to break into Cardiff’s 25-man Premier League squad next month.

Jones said: “He has got better in terms of productivity as his loan goes on and that is normal.

“It’s sad he has got go back because we would like to keep him but hopefully, God willing, it won’t be the last we see of Craig Conway.

Best snap him up quick or we will no doubt put a bid in. My Chairman likes to buy as many players as possible.

Good if Conway is part of BHA future plans---as to Lita, I cannot see him featuring, in fairness has not been given much a chance, but that is often the way when other players are doing well--hard to get into the team. We shall see, as they say!

Tony, I am available on a free transfer, but with a signing on fee. I have as much PL experience as most of your squad, and would be a real asset to the bench.

This has been in the news for a while now and I expect and hope a deal has already been done or will be in the next week.
We should get him back ASAP because Craig is a good player, in good form, has settled in well, has a good attitude and wants to be with us. It's a no brainer. UTA

Certainly a great asset if we can resign him, in an ideal world on a loan to the end of the season when we can sign him permanently providing he continues his good form and his face still fits.

What puzzles me though is why the loan deal finishes in December. He's not named in Cardiffs 25 man PL squad, so they gain nothing by having him back before January when they can resubmit their playing list. Poor lads going to be in no mans land at the busiest time of the season. Wouldn't it make sense to loan these guys until say January 5th so that it gives a few days of the transfer market being open to sort out their futures, without missing game time? I can't see how either clubs get anything from the deal ending pre-window!

Sadly my friend there is a maximum 93 day rule which has to be adhered to. This is the reason Craig's loan is up on Saturday

Knowing the mentality of the Holmsedale Road end, if we were ever to sign Leonardo Ulloa, it will more likely be "Brighton rejects, Brighton rejects 'Ulloa 'Ulloa, Brighton reject". Some of them can't see the wood for the trees so they'll probably be singing it even if he scored a hat trick for us.

You're in son! As long as you have two legs that move then you are in with a shout. Anyone can kick a ball 130 yards with a bit of coaching. In fact anyone with a pulse is a bonus at the minute, so on second thoughts don't worry about the legs.

Tony, I love your sense of humour,
But then, It must be needed managing that bunch of misfits.
ps
Don't buy a house up selhurst way, it might get burnt down accidentally when the local youths go out to play.

Ah I see, I didn't realise it was because its seen as an 'emergency loan'. The whole things still a bit bizarre really, although it's more down to the clubs playing the system.
