Ulloa on course for Albion comeback

The Argus: Leo Ulloa, stretchered off against Sheffield Wednesday at the start of October, could be on the bench for Albion at Middlesbrough. Leo Ulloa, stretchered off against Sheffield Wednesday at the start of October, could be on the bench for Albion at Middlesbrough.

Leo Ulloa could return to the Albion squad at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Seagulls' star striker has been sidelined since fracturing a foot bone in the home game against Sheffield Wednesday on October 1.

Ulloa took part in a practice game at the end of training at Withdean yesterday, along with Will Buckley (ankle).

Assistant head coach Nathan Jones told The Argus: "We'll see, we'll gauge it, and we'll speak to Leo as well. He had a good moan in training, which shows he's back and doing okay. He's looking better and the competition we have now bodes well.

"We won't push him. Realistically last week we could have risked him (against Leicester) but we didn't. He's had an extra week, so we'll see."

Whilst it is great news Ulloa is on his way back, you gotta feel sorry for Barnes, as he will almost certainly lose his place in the side if Oscar sticks with the lone striker.

A welcome bit of news after the Stephen Ward injury. I am sure they won't rush him back, even though he is probably 'straining at the leash'.

Ulloa won't be fit enough to do anything and he won't be here much longer anyway, cash in as soon as January starts then use the money to buy someone else with better fitness levels and more committed to the club.

I'll believe it when we actually see it . Too many false dawns previously. Would be great though.
I think we will miss Ward more than people realise. He has been very good lately. I have scrutinised him. The same way we miss Orlandi.. We are a far better team with him in it and making those creative runs and passes.

I don't think that we should get too carried away with this article, the, 'come back,' means he is possibly fit enough to take his place on the bench, and that is good news, but no way does he start.
If he is on the bench no doubt he will get some minutes toward the end of the match, and if he comes thru those minutes ok he will be on the bench for the next match and again get some more minutes.
Ulloa has been out for too long to just drop him back into the fray, it could be three or four matches before we see him start and if we continue to get good results without him, there won't be any pressure on Oscar to put him in.

Does not sound like a comeback at all this weekend, to me - not even on the bench. Why the rush? Take no chances and come back when absolutely 100% fit. I agree with Claude above concerning Ward and Orlandi. Ward has been particularly impressive recently and I'm not sure how Oscar will cover his possible loss. Orlandi's return will be the icing on the cake for me.

I would be amazed if Ulloa starts on Saturday. Barnes is match fit and scoring regularly, Ulloa isn't. If he is fit enough for the bench, then that is really good news although Lita will miss out. In some respects, it will depend on the state of the pitch at the Borough, as a hard or slippery pitch will not be good for a returning injury.

A bit like bridders then. I think we should give him more time than Lita but would agree the slowly approach although it depends how Ulloa feels himself. If he is chomping at the bit and the medical staff are happy then let him loose on the boro' at half time

Funnily enough, I did have a call from the RFU the other day. I thought it was a wind up so didn't call back. They might be looking to do a ground share.
