ALBION No. 2 Nathan Jones has dropped the broadest hint yet that Craig Conway, left, will be re-signed during the January transfer window.

Jones believes the Scottish international winger “offers something different” and has parised his impact off the pitch as well as on it.

Conway ended his 93-day loan from Cardiff by delivering the corner for Matt Upson to head Albion to a 1-0 win at Middlesbrough. Jones said: “He’s done well for us and we’re very, very pleased with him. It’s a shame he has to go back because we’d still like him to be involved. We’re going to have to see.

“We have got five that can play wide, including Craig, and he offers something different. On the pitch he has been what we knew but off the pitch he has been phenomenal. He fitted in so quickly.

“That was a conscious effort. His wife was pregant but he moved his family straight down. The loan market is very important and you have to be thorough.

“There have been some we’ve enquired about who haven’t quite fancied it, so we put them to one side. “We don’t want them, we want the ones who are desperate to play for us. He was one I had earmarked before I even came here and he has done brilliantly.”
