Crawley boss John Gregory will look to further strengthen his backroom team following the arrival of Guy Whittingham as first team coach.

Whittingham was in the dug-out alongside Gregory for the first time as Reds fought back from 2-0 down to draw at home to Preston on Saturday.

Gregory believes the former Portsmouth boss will be the perfect foil as he attempts to get Reds back to winning ways but would still like to further assistance on the coaching front. He said: “I have been doing it all myself for the last 11 days which has been hard work so it is great to have Guy where we can share responsibilities rather than spreading myself too thin.

“Ultimately I make the decisions and the responsibility does land on my shoulders but we will be working as a team. For me it is the perfect choice.

“He will come and assist me on the training ground. It is important we can share responsibilities but I might bring one more in if it is right.

“If I do it will be because that person can add something and will muck in because we don't have people here sat on backside doing nothing.”
