Buckley keeps an eye on top six

The Argus: Will Buckley Will Buckley

Will Buckley insists Albion still have an eye on the top six – despite two recent setbacks.

The Seagulls go to Blackpool tomorrow looking to bounce back from a home draw with Huddersfield followed by defeat at Charlton (see accompanying video).

For the third game in a row, Albion will kick off knowing a win could take them into the top six.

It is a slim chance this time. But Buckley insists they cannot ignore what is going on above them in the league table.

And he is convinced a play-off place remains the first target.

“I think we are aware of it,” he said when asked if Albion were going into games knowing where a win could take them in the standings.

“That is where we want to be at the end of the season. We want to be in the top six at least. Whether you look at it like that or not, we just approach the game in the same way.

“We went out to win the game at Charlton and, unfortunately, we didn’t.

“We just want to be up there whether it is now or the end of the season, which is obviously the main time.”

Well if they want to be Top 6 they need to start showing it ! Not all down to the players , some suspect team selections and tactics haven't helped but they need to raise their game and give the brilliant visiting fans something to shout about ! We can play well and have done this season in fits and starts but we need to do it consistently .. Big game tomorrow , lets hope we can win ! GG

I think The Albion will have the same trouble tomorrow as they did at Charlton. The Blackpool pitch is like a ploughed field at the best of times. Heaven knows what it will be like after all the rain we have had. Anyway, here's hoping for three points.

He must be a better player than conway if he is preferred by the management or Tan.

Ps I think Tan was right to offload malky, those transfer dealings stink to high heavens.

Well done Gus ! As butch Wilkins said you did exceptional things at brighton. Now you are doing exceptional things with the black cats. All true football fans wish you well.
True...
But you should suspect the intentions of those who are so quick to praise him (at Garcia's expense) on this site. Sussexscum 40 is no friend of Brighton FC nor has he any real knowledge of football. He is just a troll after all....

Come the new year I think the honeymoon period will be over, & the Garcia/Jones will be in a better position to be judged, I agree that any result at Blackpool will be tough with the state of the pitch, but Bournemouth at home is a must win regardless of where we are in the league, I think we now need to to playing our best side regardless of who we're playing, when we failed to beat Huddersfield, we lost the luxury of using the squad, we then needed to beat Charlton, so we could rest players against Blackpool, and then have our strongest side available against Bournemouth, I won't go so far to say what our best side is, but it must include Ince.

Gus has a good eye for talent and he appeared to have good relations with the players. Also he'd been working in England so knew strengths and weaknesses. OG has had to learn about his own squad and the opposition. However, OG's not miles short. I think after 20 games of this season and last season we had the same number of points. It should be noted that was with many of the key players being injured this season. We've won games this season that we failed to previously - IMO there have been some more positive substitutions. I don't think we beat a top 6 team before Christmas last season whereas this season the problem has been consistency of performance against teams lower down in the table. Patience is required - a year ago there were plenty of critical comments about Gus. Obviously had a good run later on. 1 big advantage is not hearing OG moaning about the team reaching its 'ceiling'.

and TK. I think you've picked a tough team in Bournemouth to expect 3 points against. Eddie Howe knows better than anyone how to stop us playing from the back and deny time on the ball. There'll be some physical challenges which I hope the ref will get tough on but he may not. There is still plenty of time to get in the top 6 as could be witnessed last season when teams drop points in a very competitive league.

Some of us are not fickle and appreciate your great work here, including the new coach who tries to copy you but its not like the real thing.
Forget Pooyet. I wonder how many people would still like him if he came back to nick our players. B*ll*cks to how he is doing. It is all about the Albion. Get behind Garcia, that's all that matters. UTA
I wonder when you will realise this is a wind up and you have been caught - again!
Caught with what? Will take a lot to wind me up. I am loving it. Any sad tw*t with no life who has to troll Albion sites deserves an answer tro his attention seeking. UTA

I disagree
