Stephen Dobbie has been handed the chance to shine against one of his old clubs.

The short-lived former Albion attacker plays against them today after being recalled to the starting XI by Blackpool.

Dobbie was signed by Gus Poyet on August 31 last season but now admits he did not hit off with the former Albion boss.

He moved on to Crystal Palace and has since been loaned back to the Bloomfield Road outfit, although he was left out of the team which drew 1-1 with Leeds on Boxing Day to end a four-game losing run.

Interviewed for today’s match programme, Dobbie said: “Brighton were a good passing team so I thought they would suit my style of play but I didn’t see eye-to-eye with Gus Poyet, as simple as that.”

Dobbie will play off Michael Chopra in Blackpool’s 4-4-1-1 set-up.

The Tangerines had hoped to have Ricardo Fuller back after a four-match absence, enforced by suspension and a hamstring problem. but he does not feature in the 18 named by boss Paul Ince.

Midfielder Chris Basham is likely to fill in as a makeshift right-back.

Centre-back Kirk Broadfoot starts a four-game ban after being sent-off near the end of the Leeds game.

The former Rangers man was shown a straight red card, his second dismissal in December.

Craig Cathcart is likely to move from right back to the centre of defence.

Blackpool: Gilks; Basham, Cathcart, MacKenzie, Robinson; Ince, Ferguson, Gosling, Bishop; Dobbie; Chopra. Subs: Warner, Blackett, Angel, Davies, Delfouneso, Barkhuizen, Eccleston.
