Albion boss Oscar Garcia could be handed extra funds by chairman Tony Bloom from an FA Cup run for the January transfer window.

The Seagulls face Championship rivals Reading in the third round at The Amex today.

The fourth round is played before the window closes at the end of the month, giving Oscar an added incentive to guide his team into tomorrow’s draw and a possible moneyspinning tie.

Oscar revealed to The Argus earlier this week concerns about Financial Fair Play considerations affecting his hopes of re-signing former loan winger Craig Conway from Cardiff.

The head coach’s assistant, Nathan Jones, told The Argus: “If we go on a run and earn any more money I’m sure any club in the land would appreciate that. We’ve got a fantastic chairman here who runs the club fantastically well, so I'm sure a Cup run would help that.

“I’m not saying it’s a Cup run to survive – we are not in those days any more – but it would be fantastic for the club, for the fans, for the town again to have a good run in the FA cup, to draw someone, have an element of romance or giantkilling.”

Albion completed the £2 million signing of Leo Ulloa from Almeria in-between last season's third round victory at home to Newcastle and Arsenal's fourth round win at The Amex.

Ulloa scored twice on his comeback from nearly three months out with a fractured foot bone at Charlton on Boxing Day but missed chances in the first half of the 1-1 home draw against Bournemouth on New Year's Day.

Jones said: "Hopefully the more Leo is playing now the more he'll get back to being himself. He's come back and he has scored two already. He hit the post the other day against Blackpool. He's getting chances, which is the pleasing thing."
