Peacehaven stretched their lead at the top of Ryman south to eight points with a 3-0 victory at home to Leatherhead.

The match survived two pitch inspections to go ahead and the Magpies went in front after just seven minutes when Charlie Walker slipped a pass into the path of Tom Burton who switched feet before drilling home a low shot.

Walker hit the bar on 15 minutes before doubling the lead just past the hour-half mark with a delightful finish for his 24th goal of the season after a Josh Jones pass held up in the mud.

Leatherhead threatened a response early in the second half but Ash Jones cleared off the line from Paul Semakula.

The visitors were reduced to ten men when Leroy Griffiths was sent off for a second bookable offence with 16 minutes remaining.

Walker was unlucky not to score a third in the 80th minute when his shot was going in with the keeper beaten only for the ball to stick in the mud.

With four minutes remaining Tom Lawley rattled the crossbar and from the following corner Craig Richards headed home a third.

Eastbourne Borough’s Conference south match at home to Eastleigh had passed a morning inspection but was called off an hour before kick-off following further rain.
