Rohan Ince has been hailed as Albion’s big surprise of the season.

Team-mate Andrea Orlandi has also praised head coach Oscar Garcia for spotting the potential of the 21-year-old as a midfielder.

Ince returns to the starting line-up against Birmingham at The Amex today after signing a new contract until June 2016.

Orlandi told The Argus: “For me he’s a big surprise. In pre-season he started at centre-back and I couldn’t see the potential but then he played in midfield against Getafe and he was like a different player.

“He has got everything – size, technique, and he's improving every game. I think he's the big surprise of the season.

“I am pleased for him and I am pleased for Oscar as well. He had to play him because of the injuries and now he has a big, big player. He saw that potential because I am being honest I didn't see it.

"In midfield he's got presence and when he hasn't played we probably didn't get the results we wanted, so he's a good player for the team."

Liam Bridcutt's involvement today is in doubt, irrespective of Sunderland's interest and his rejected midweek transfer request. He has still been troubled this week by a groin injury responsible for him being rested from the FA Cup victory over Reading.

Yep, I don't think any of us saw RI coming through when the season started, so he is a real find. Clean Sheet and 3 pts today please.

I wonder if we are going to see Andrea today? A midfield of Incey, Orlandi, Crofts and Bridcutt/Andrews, with Kemy and Solly on the bench sounds rather tasty.

Got a touch of the Yaya Toure about him. When the Argus reported he had signed a long term deal, I thought 3-4 years. Bit disappointed it is just 2 1/2, but better than nothing!

Looking forward to the game this afternoon. Wonder if Bridcutt will get a look in?

Saw him at Crawley pre season playing in midfield and you could see his ability but was a bit naive. At that time, fans that had seen him were split fairly even on either "useless" or "could be fantastic". I thought he would develop into a very good player but I am surprised at how quickly he has regularly been one of the best we have on the pitch.

The Bridcutt transfer has seen many people say that Ince is his replacement, I don't think that is right, for me Ince is challenging the likes of Crofts, Kemmy and Orlandi for a starting place.
There is a big differences between Bridders and Ince. Any one of our back four is likely to score more goals that Bridcutt in a season, as Ince progresses, that will not be the case for him.
The opposition pretty much know that Bridcutt will not venture too close to their eighteen yard box, Ince will want to be be right in there.
Bridcutt, by instinct, is a fully committed midfield defender, Ince is showing a real appetite to take the game to the opposition.
Bridders is great at reading the game and breaking down opposition raids, Ince still has to fully develop that part of his game but that won't be his main role, no more than it is for Crofts.
If Bridders goes, right now Andrews is his replacement, not Ince.

How nice to hear a team member praise someone-also praise Oscar for his foresight.

We could well have an exceptionally good & talented Manager in our midst-after all he's unknown in this country........well done to both of you!

Hope he doesn't get poached away too!

Fantastic young player ,i think if we look after him,he will only improve ,and look after us by extending his contract further next season !. Agree with Sheil ,it`s good to see players recognize their colleagues and the boss` strengths. UTA
