Crawley boss John Gregory insists it would take a significant offer for him to allow any his star players to leave during the January transfer window.

Reds have received a number of enquiries about the availability of their players but none have met their valuation yet.

Gregory has not revealed the identity of the members of his squad who have attracted interest but the likes of goalkeeper Paul Jones, striker Billy Clarke and winger Nicky Adams are all out of contract in the summer making their attractive targets. Gregory said: “We’ve had a few enquiries. The phone rarely stops to be honest during January as there is always someone ringing up and enquiring about one or two and their current situation.

“Quite frankly everybody I have got here at the moment I want to keep but if the price is right you have to listen.

“Money has spoken in the past at this club. We got offered £800,000 for Matt Tubbs two years ago and you can’t turn down that kind of money. “Everybody is a selling club at the end of the day. Even Manchester United sold Ronaldo and they are one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Tubbs rejoined Crawley on loan from Bournemouth on Monday and Gregory is set to throw him straight into the starting line-up at Coventry tomorrow – after being ineligible for the FA Cup defeat to Bristol Rovers on Wednesday – despite the striker having seen only nine minutes of action at Rotherham in the last seven weeks.

Gregory added: “Although he has not played much recently Matt is the sort of boy who looks after himself well.

“He has been training hard while he was at Rotherham and has been doing extra work in his own time to keep his fitness levels up.

“We’ve done a couple of assessments on him this week and he is in good shape so I would have no hesitation in starting him.”

Reds are still without the suspended top scorer Billy Clarke and injured midfielder Dannie Bulman for the trip to Sixfields while Coventry are likely to be without 33-goal strike duo Leon Clarke and Calum Wilson through injury.
