Obika on bench as Albion make sweeping changes

New boy Jonathan Obika is on the bench and Liam Bridcutt not involved for Albion today.

But there are changes elsewhere in the starting XI as the Seagulls take on Birmingham City at The Amex.

Tomasz Kuszczak, Matt Upson, Stephen Ward, David Lopez, Kazenga LuaLua and Leo Ulloa all return to the side.

Bruno, recovered from a thigh muscle problem suffered at Charlton on New Year’s Day, gets the nod over Inigo Calderon at right-back.

Adam El-Abd is the unlucky central defender to miss out as Upson returns.

Gordon Greer keeps his place after coming through 66 minutes last week in the FA Cup against Reading for which Oscar Garcia made several strategic changes.

Obika, signed for three months from Spurs in midweek, is joined on the bench by, among others, young winger Solly March, who shone in the Cup last week.

Bridcutt has been suffering with a groin problem.

Will Buckley is still ruled out by a hamstring problem and striker Ashley Barnes left the club yesterday, completing his move to Burnley.

Barnes scored the equaliser when these teams drew 1-1 here two seasons ago.

Albion are looking to improve a record of just four home wins, the lowest tally in the top half of the division.

Albion: Kuszczak; Bruno, Greer, Upson, Ward; Ince, Andrews, Crofts; David, LuaLua, Ulloa. Subs: Brezovan, Calderon, El-Abd, Obika, March, Orlandi, Agustien.

Well I can only guess that he isn't fit enough, I suppose if he were, then David would have missed out. Depending on how the game goes, Orlandi for David, Solly for Kaz and Obika for Ulloa, at varying times during the match. first goal could be massive today.

The Argus mentions that we have the lowest amount of Home wins in the top half. Is it really surprising when we never start with two strikers? We want Obika and Ulloa, not Obika instead of Ulloa later on as you suggest above. That would give us more chance of getting a lead. That's assuming Obika complements Ullo's style of play, which we don't know yet, of course.
Bruno may have to score today. He's a good price.

Be interesting to see Obika AND Ulloa on together at some stage--we did have Barnes and Ulloa together at times even as a sub. I hope we can get off to a good start--out of the starting blocks quickly!!! UTA

Two fit strikers, until we get a third I wouldn't even dream of starting them both. If Mason comes in, you might get to see two strikers in the next FA Cup match.

What a bad example of todays modern footballer.

The only good thing about this, is it might educate the dimwits into the mindset of a so called club legend.

Hopefully the club will take the same action that they took against Gus.

It's when, not if, LB joins up again with Gus! Forget negative comments, if somebody offered you twice as much money to do your job, anybody in their right mind would take it! So good luck, the same goes for AB too!
