Albion are into the top six for the first time this season thanks to a wonderful David Lopez volley.
But there were concerns over Andrew Crofts after their 1-0 win over Birmingham City.
David let fly with a superb right-foot finish on 58 minutes after involvement in the initial move with Bruno.
Crofts had a drive blocked by keeper Darren Randolph before the ball eventually fell to the right foot of Lopez, who angled his volley across the keeper.
The impressive Crofts had to be carried off later in the half with what looked a nasty knee injury.
Albion were good value for the win, despite a nervy finale.
Randolph twice denied man-of-the-match Kazenga LuaLua in a slow-burner of a first half and also pushed away a David curler.
He later kept out an angled Crofts drive as Albion chased a second goal.
Blues piled men forward in the later stages as they looked to extend their unbeaten record to 11 games.
But Tomasz Kuszczak never had to make a really demanding save.
His punch clear of a stoppage-time free-kick launched a counter raid from which Rohan Ince should have added a second.
Jonathan Obika made his debut as a 63rd minute substitute but did not have much chance to impress.
