HARRY Redknapp has tipped Albion to stay in the Championship promotion hunt.

The Seagulls moved into the top six for the first time this season with Saturday’s 1-0 home win against Birmingham and the QPR boss expects Oscar Garcia's side to still be in contention at the finish.

Redknapp, pictured right, said: “It’s going to be tight. Leicester are in fantastic form and Burnley keep winning. They’re not going to fade away like I keep hearing people say.

“Nottingham Forest and Derby will be up there as well. Teams like Wigan and Brighton are going to be there or thereabouts as well. It’s a tough league.”

Albion hinted at their promotion credentials in September when they held Redknapp’s Rangers to a 0-0 draw at Loftus Road without suspended striker Leo Ulloa.

The return is at The Amex in March, the busiest month of the season for the Seagulls when they pack in seven matches.

Albion go to fourth-placed Derby County on Saturday with an opportunity to narrow the gap between the teams to two points.

The clash has been selected for extended highlights on the BBC’s late Saturday night Football League Show.

Third-placed Rangers kept up their automatic promotion push at the weekend with a 3-1 win at Ipswich, which left them five points adrift of leaders Leicester and one behind Burnley in second.
