Redknapp tips Albion to be in promotion shake-up

The Argus: Harry Redknapp is impressed by Albion Harry Redknapp is impressed by Albion

HARRY Redknapp has tipped Albion to stay in the Championship promotion hunt.

The Seagulls moved into the top six for the first time this season with Saturday’s 1-0 home win against Birmingham and the QPR boss expects Oscar Garcia's side to still be in contention at the finish.

Redknapp, pictured right, said: “It’s going to be tight. Leicester are in fantastic form and Burnley keep winning. They’re not going to fade away like I keep hearing people say.

“Nottingham Forest and Derby will be up there as well. Teams like Wigan and Brighton are going to be there or thereabouts as well. It’s a tough league.”

Albion hinted at their promotion credentials in September when they held Redknapp’s Rangers to a 0-0 draw at Loftus Road without suspended striker Leo Ulloa.

The return is at The Amex in March, the busiest month of the season for the Seagulls when they pack in seven matches.

Albion go to fourth-placed Derby County on Saturday with an opportunity to narrow the gap between the teams to two points.

The clash has been selected for extended highlights on the BBC’s late Saturday night Football League Show.

Third-placed Rangers kept up their automatic promotion push at the weekend with a 3-1 win at Ipswich, which left them five points adrift of leaders Leicester and one behind Burnley in second.

Wow! Ignoring the tenuous Rednapp comments, I am more surprised that we are being chosen for extended highlights on the Football League Show.
After all, that programme has treated the Championship like a 23 team league since our promotion from League One, so I can only think it must be more to do with the Derby connection on the day.

What about Sky's obsession with Leeds then? They feature more than any other team. It's really annoying.

Don't be cynical and bitter Bobby... It's a known fact there are only 23 teams in the Championship.

It's not just the BBC that acknowledge this... Read any paper or skysports.

I would comment on the above story but all i can think to say is, is it not nice to see the Croydon boys sitting at the bottom of the table? Now some may feel a little bitter toward our previous leader but you cant help but want Sunderland to create a gap between themselves and the over achievers now sitting below them.

Feeling a tad disappointed this morning, not a single article that offers something new. I woke this morning full of beans and raring to go, well we had Mexican take out and I had a double order of refried, they always make me want to, 'go,' so after a quick trip to the bathroom and the refried beans duly dispatched, my anticipation of what I would find on the Argus website was mounting.
I put the coffee pot on and dashed to my computer, to say I dashed might be a tad too strong a word, I walked to my desk, well to be honest I did that early morning heavy legged shuffle, you know, the one where you always stub your toe on something, you know it's going to happen but you just can't seem to lift your feet any higher. So I finally sit down and click on my trusted Argus web site and what do I get, NORTON ANTI VIRUS HAS BLOCKED THIS SITE, well I can tell you I was starting to panic.
Is this it, are my days of writing my well thought out and clearly stated thoughts over, will my fellow contributors be deprived of my wisdom regarding all things such as our team, business planning and how to make your grass grow greener, am I destined never to be told, 'less is more,' ever again, there was only one thing for it, REBOOT.

You will no doubt be pleased to learn, and as is self evident by this offering, the reboot worked, and a little note to one of Tug's postings proved to be a successful test. After my trials and tribulations of logging on endured sadly I find nothing worth the reading, just regurgitated articles from yesterday. I am not blaming the Argus, they report the news and don't make it. It's now 4-50am, I am on my second cup of coffee and all is now fine in sleepy Las Vegas, sleepy nah, the place is rocking, always is.

Vegas,
Thanks so much for your in depth reflections of the morning but with the greatest of respect, I think I'd sooner read the story about Harry again...

On a (slightly) more serious note, I trust the Argus haven't set a precedent with this, otherwise we're in for more 'revelations' from Dyche, Davies, McLaren et al when it's quiet.
Can't wait.....
