Albion boss Oscar Garcia has no fears about the well-being of Leo Ulloa.

The Seagulls’ spearhead has not scored for three games and was substituted against Birmingham at The Amex last Saturday.

But Oscar is happy with the way Ulloa is playing and training in the early stages of his return from long-term injury.

Ulloa bagged ten goals in 20 games last season following a £2 million January move from Spanish side Almeria.

The Argentinian ace began the season on fire again with four in six matches, including one against Saturday’s hosts Derby County.

A ban for a red card and a fractured foot bone then restricted Ulloa to one bit-part appearance in three months.

He has drawn a blank since scoring twice on his comeback at Charlton on Boxing Day but has never gone more than four games without finding the net for Albion.

Oscar told The Argus: “He had a bad injury. He was out for a long time. He had to play three or four games in a row. It’s not easy after two months out.

“But I am not worried about him, about his performance, because he’s helping us. He is training well and I am okay with him, very happy.”

Ulloa appeared despondent when Spurs loan signing Jonathan Obika replaced him early in the second half of an uncharacteristically below-par performance against Birmingham.

Oscar said: “When I was a player I wanted to play all the games for 95 minutes but I know as the manager you have to take the right decision for the team.”
