Crawley Town have allowed defender James Hurst to join Northampton Town on a month's loan.

Hurst will be available for Northampton’s trip to Torquay United in League Two tomorrow and will remain with the Cobblers until February 15.

The 21-year-old has made just 11 league starts since arriving on a free transfer from West Brom in the summer and Reds boss John Gregory admits he needs more match time.

Gregory said: “Hursty needs to get some games under his belt and it is a good opportunity for him. We will monitor his progress at Northampton over the next month and we wish him all the best.”

Hurst’s temporary departure leaves Crawley with no cover for Mark Connolly – who is more comfortable at centre-back himself – in the right-back position.
